I would absolutely love him back here, but fear Halifax might go for and get him...
-
brucybaby81 Darlo's 1st trophy in 20 years and this is how you get repaid. Ha ha sums the place up. Sorry fans. Released. Joke. See you
Unbelievable!
-
Wow, crazy decision, hope Chris finds a full time club that appreciates his talent.
Exact same thing happened to Carlos Logan last year at Barrow!
-
wouldnt be surprised if it was barrow or afc halifax where he ends up
-
Don't think he was ever fancied there really, I reckon the decision was made long before the trophy final.
What a shame..a real 100% player who never really got a chance from what I saw.
One of the few home subs I have ever seen clapped on at an away game by us!

Cooper-ball hardly suits him, does it? Definitely not given a proper chance.

Must have realized when he walked out into that huge stadium it was too big a move for him :o
-
I think he'll be snapped up by someone else in the Blue Square Premier, a great character and proven striker at that level. Gutted for him though.

£5 he is playing at fleetwood next season

That is one of the most condescending and disrespectful posts I can recall in a long old time.
It's not that the move was in any way 'too big' for him. Chris, as you will doubtless agree, is more than capable of playing at BSBP level.
The issue I suspect is more that he was about two foot too short to be in any way appreciated by Mark Cooper and that is more of a condemnation of Cooper than of Chris.
-
He must be gutted.
I'm sure he would be welcomed back to THE MIGHTY ROBINS.

terrific way to repay the man who has just won your first ever major trophy.
Good luck Chris wherever you end up!
-
speaks volumes for us, the nice things he said about us and his letter, compared to what he's saying now.

Their second - once champions of League Division 3 (North) back in the 1920's.

does anyone really think it was a shock
he has been a regular bench warmer and the manager who signed him left shortly after he signed,am surprised senior himself thinks it a "joke"
Just cause he scored the winner in the f.a trophy, what about the whole of the season, not a success really
Gutted for him but will get himself a decent club

Its sad that its not worked out for either chris or greg, you cant blame them for giving it a go,chances like that dont come along very often, but I cant help thinking if theyd stay here,we wouldnt be out of the conference and they wouldnt be out of a job....
-
He was on the local news up here today. He looked happy enough considering.
-
Am I right in thinking Chris Senior is studying or was studying Physio theraphy?
If so we perhaps need a striker and we definately need a new physio.

Has Youngy been released as well?
-
Yes

If so we perhaps need a striker and we definately need a new physio.
Wasn't he (or maybe he still is) working at Sheffield United as a trainee physio.
I wonder how going full time affected that.
-
Playing and being physio at the same time might be a problem!!

I think he lost that job last year which made the FT Darlo move more appealing

If it was at the same club it would do wonders for the budget !
-
Physio bag might slow him down though.

"I'd come back from injury, trained for three or four days last week and was hoping to get into the squad at Wembley because the gaffer had a big decision to make regarding who was going to be on the bench. Luckily I got the nod and scored a bit of a special goal.
"Sunday, Monday and Tuesday was a bit of a comedown after what had happened on Saturday.
"Then I came back into the club today, was looking forward to tonight and then at five to six I get hit with a bombshell that I've been released from my contract for next season.
"I was hoping that the importance of the goal I scored on Saturday would go some way towards earning a new contract.
"The importance of the goal, for the club and the town, if there had been a bit of indecision from the gaffer, then it might have gone some way towards giving me an extension on my contract."

Talking about Chrissy today with Wycombe Wanderers shirt wearing Scotsman, who knew of Chris and spoke of him very highly. I noticed the shirt was a Prostar one, so I mentioned Ian Senior and got onto the subject of Chris from the Alty connection.
A surreal conversation for the west of Scotland!
-
heya - firstly cheers to all those that sent us good wishes for the Final, was a great day. Think most Darlo fans are real sad to see Chrissy leave. His heart is bigger than his height!
I know how much you guys respected the wee fella and it was much the same up Darlo. Providing he does fully recover from his injury then he will do ok for himself thats for sure, he is too good a player not to be picked up.
The only reason he was released is that we already have Hatch and Campbell (signed mid-season) as well as a young kid Michael Smith and Tommy Wright under contract and we need room to bring in another forward better (hopefully) than we already have. Am pretty sure if we could have moved Tommy Wright out Chris would have been retained. His style was ideal early doors when we were more direct and he had something to chase but his injury and us bringing in Bridge Wilkinson saw us play a more fluent diamond formation and sadly he never quite got his fitness back sufficiently to regain his place.
He leaves as a Legend for Darlo fans and with all our respect and we wish him all the best for the future (would be nice to see him go back to you guys given how much respect you have afforded him over the years).
Best of luck

From the AFCW forum
If we don't go up, I'd be very tempted to sign Chris Senior, if he'd consider a move down south: he's caused us trouble for both Altrincham and Darlington.
