Title: "Christmas Stocking Fillers" - club website
Post by: The Sound of Silence on December 01, 2016, 09:53:08 AM
Intrigued by the choice of player to illustrate this story - don't think I'll be rushing out to buy one of those! Had they considered a picture of Miley instead?

Tempted to order a Fabio Bassangue shirt, but the washing instructions would be in French and it would fall apart after 18 minutes......

Mick raises an interesting point - at this stage readers with a life might like to stop reading.

Guinea-Bissau was indeed a Portuguese colony (1-0 Mick)

BUT

Only 14% of the population speaks Portuguese, because it is associated with the colonial past (1-1)

BUT

There are no stats on how many of the population speak French (2-1 Mick)

BUT

Bassangue is definitely a French, not a Portuguese name (2-2 and into extra time)

BUT
Guinea-Bissau is a member of the Community of Portuguese Language Countries (3-2 Mick)

BUT

It is also a member of La Francophonie (which is the French equivalent of the CPLC) (3-3 and on to penalties)

At which point Mick wins because I have no idea what languages Fabio speaks (although I know one he doesn't), but whereas I can speak some French I can't speak any Portuguese, so it suits me to assume he speaks French.

Good luck Mick in the later rounds of "Fabulous Footballers and where to find them".

I would get out more, but either we lose or it's too foggy and frosty.

I'm tempted to get a 'Morison-Derbyshire' to get maximum value for my tenner.
