Post by: Sale Holmfield on November 13, 2017, 12:35:55 PM
Drawn a bit earlier than expected

Loud anti-climactic thud of disappointment

Not a great draw but we still have every chance of getting through to the next round.

Yes, it is not exciting, but, even though they are in a higher league, they are in the bottom half, and probably more worried about us.
I think the only ex-player there is Luis Morrison, but he has only been an unused sub so far this season.

We can have them watched at FC United tomorrow hopefully

Give our recruitment policy from last season there's probably an ex-player at every club at NLN and Evo Stik level...

It's not the best draw in the world - but as suggested previously, a good marker to see how far we've come.

We'd probably have beaten them at home but I don't fancy us away.

Agree, they'll be more worried than us.

Luis Morrison Derbyshire, not sure how much he features though.

Pity its away, winnable game though.

Interesting to see how we do against a team from league above. No that far away but seems to take a while to get there according to google maps. Parr for the course when going across country I guess.

Easy on the train, hourly direct service from stockport. Alfreton were knocked out of the FA Cup by Stourbridge. They have also only won once and lost six times in their last seven games.Theyll probably sack their manager if they lose at FC United tomorrow

Their recent form is probably skewed by the fact they've been defeated (narrowly) by the top2 and another in the playoffs.

We're capable of progressing (might need a replay). They've not been leaking like a sieve at the back this season though, and they've got a decent strike rate up front.

An interesting tie, and I guess will provide the first true yardstick of how much we have improved from last season

Would expect to win but it will be tougher than the likes of Workington and Whitby. Fingers crossed for good weather

Agreed, this is a great opportunity for our new group of players to lay a marker down. Hoping for a good performance and result!

Not very glamorous, but what would be.

Wish it was a home tie but nothing to lose.

Someone mentioned odds of 100-1 on Alty to win the Trophy - which bookies has this - all I can find is Betvictor and they only have odds on the teams from the national leagues?

We were 100/1 on oddschecker the other day but they seem to have pulled all the clubs below national league north and south out of the betting list, maybe they’ll reappear on Wednesday once the replays are completed
