Title: Mossley Match Thread
Post by: robininstockport on November 26, 2017, 03:22:27 PM
Assuming it doesn't get postponed.

                             Deasy

C. Jones.  J. Jones Hannigan Short

                  Taylor Sheridan

      Walsh      Peers  Miller

                       Amiss

Should have enough quality to come through.

Miller & Amis are on loan at Colne & therefore unavailable to us; J. Jones was injured last week, not in the squad yesterday - would we want to risk him?; Short is presumably still injured as he hasn't featured for some considerable time.
Deasy, C. Jones, Taylor, Walsh, Bembo-Leta, Sheridan surely definite starters; Peers & Hannigan probably need the game time; who fill the other three places (left-back & either one midfield & one forward or two midfielders) I leave entirely to the management's judgement!
Mossley played at home yesterday so the pitch will have taken some wear. Last weather forecast I saw suggested milder tomorrow but then turning colder. We could do with getting the game played so as to get another game off Richman's ban & to avoid the fixture backlog getting any worse, but may struggle to play Tuesday. If it does go ahead, I'll be there - apart from Ashton it's my most local game!

Bembo-Leta for Jones, Parma for Amiss and a half each for Johnson and Hancock instead of Miller.

Simples

I'd like us to play a relatively strong side,we may as well try and win the thing while we have to play in it as being honest we're unlikely to win the FA Trophy.

You never know. I didn't go to Alfreton yesterday because I was down the road watching Mansfield v Chesterfield with an old school friend. It is THE local derby for both teams and yet I didn't feel they were playing a better class of football. Neither side tried to play with any pace at all. Chesterfield were robbed in the end and definitely won't be visiting the Conference next season.

I just wouldn't risk JJ so close to the Shaw Lane game but then it is 2 weeks away and it is important to keep fit . Tough decisions.

One of the features of these "minor" cup games has been that PP has chosen a decent mix of first team and fringe but they have still played well.

Hope it's on on Tuesday as I think Richman will miss Shaw Lane if it's off.

Looks a bit muddy on Saturday...

Completely forgot about Sam Sheridan. He'll start.

If the pitch is heavy I'd hate to risk any of our key players - I'd rather go a round further in the Trophy than win this thing.

As good as we have it at the moment, it's totally unrealistic to fight on all fronts - so the above XI will do just fine (and I suspect might have enough in the tank anyway).

It might not do the players any harm to get used to playing on pudding pitches. There will be plenty of that going on in the coming months.

No great loss in the scheme of things, frustrating though as their last minute equaliser was apparently well offside.

Good run out for players like taylor, walsh, sheridan and peers

According to RR Mossley well offside in build up to their last gasp equaliser. Timely reminder we'll need to earn every point in the league as we can't depend on competent officials. Good run out for the squad players (the sending off apart) and at least no injuries. Would like to see Hampson secured for at least another loan period after Saturday.

It was hancock. Had a mare trying to juggle work and whatsapp. Full time score went out incorrectly both attempts!

It's a shame we got knocked out, as it's definitely good to keep on giving these fringe lads a proper competitive run-out.

I suspect we'd have had enough in the tank with Miller and Amis included as well, but their time is definitely best spent at Colne at the moment.

Perhaps now some of these other lads can be farmed out elsewhere in the pyramid to keep them sharp...?

It was a decent game. No matter what team we put out you expect it from us under PP, but I was surprised to see Bandy's lads really try and play given the limitations of the pitch at Seel Park. Both sides tried to play the right way and it made for a very entertaining game. Hancock a class above the rest of them. Two superb goals.

The liner was struggling to keep up with Mossley's quick counters all second half and some of his earlier decisions were guesswork, so it was no real surprise to me when no flag came up in the 95th minute despite the attacker being a good 5 yards offside.

Tom Westall looked useful. Most of the squad would be happy to be out of the competition but as others have said, it was a good opportunity to give lads like Westall, Callum Jones, Darius Palma etc a chance.

"However, the drama wasn't finished as the game entered it's fifth minute of a signaled 5 minutes added time. Adam Latham appeared to be off-side when he raced through a gap..."

I think that's settled then.

Watching the goals on their youtube channel. Mossley's 1st goal should have been flagged for offside.

Mossley have now parted company with joint managers Peter Band and Lloyd Morrison.

Their form since they won this game on penalties: W2 D3 L12.

Whilst I'm sorry for Bandy who's a lovely genuine guy, you've got to say it's not a good record, and managers have been shown the door with better points returns.

We almost appointed Matt Doughty with a similar record.
