Title: Coalville Town match thread
Post by: One Foot in the Grave on December 28, 2017, 09:55:02 AM
It's hard to know what to expect from opponents who win 3-1 away to Warrington on Saturday, then nosedive 0-3 to Barwell on Tuesday. One thing is for sure though - it'll be a pretty low attendance. Barwell is their derby fixture, and the gate was only 198.

They certainly weren't a pushover at our place and I think they'll have had their arses kicked after Tuesday and will be all out to prove themselves.

We SHOULD win this and I'm going for 2-1 (Poole and Richman). Attendance 234.

Don't think there are any easy fixtures, most teams are trying to raise there game against us. I am sure the lads will be well prepared.

Hopefully game will be on, hoping to get there.

I guess you don't change a winning team unless you have too. So would go with same starting 11 as Marine if possible.

Reckon 150+ from Alty plus their support.

Coalville 12/5
Draw 11/4
Alty 4/5

Another backwater without a train station. Cheapest options seems to
Be Manc - nott, nott - Loughborough on split tickets then bus or taxi (8 miles) to Coalville. Loughborough appears to have about 50 real ale pubs though. It won’t be easy, they’ll be hurting after a derby defeat. Here’s their managers thoughts

no reason to think that we can't pickup another 3 points on Saturday.

Team selection, same as Tues.

3-0 seems the default score so I will predict this.

3-0   attendance 279

Cmon Alty...

Rain due all Friday and low tempertures.

Google reckon it'll stop raining there Friday dinner time, and then rain from midnight to 7am. No more rain till 7pm Saturday. Not expecting it to freeze either.

So if it's off it really is "all your fault"  ;)

Wouldn't be surprised if Hannigan, Richman and Poole were rested. Looked like Hannigan was going to be withdrawn and Richman and Poole were kicked to high heaven on Tuesday.

Coalville 0-2 Alty. Hulme Peers

what's up with Hannigan now? he doesn't need a rest he has missed lots of games already.

He was kicked all over the show at Marine.  He was down injured at one point and we were worried it was his hamstring. Luckily we were wrong.

Burton is also a possibility. It's a longer bus or taxi journey, but a shorter rail journey, and also avoids the Pennines if there is a lot of snow tomortow and a slow thaw, if you go via Tamworth.
Quite a big town not to have a station and to have such low gates, although they are relatively new as a town rather than a miners welfare club.

What has happened to Max Harrop?, he started against Matlock and played well. However has not even been on the bench for the last 2

We have had two thoroughly professional performances against tough organised opposition on bobbly pitches....and won both 3-0

The 1st half was fairly even and a touch of class from a Poole free kick aided by a dodgy keeper saw us ahead.

The 2nd half we were totally in control sitting back, passing the ball around and breaking quickly....I missed Jordan's goal but Sean's was a case of dogged persistence chasing a high ball aided again by a dodgy keeper.

We just looked a bit too good for either marine or coalville to break through and we look like scoring at any time.

A bunch of 3 coalville chavs (probably the offspring of the Leicester fans our chairman invited to run riot at moss lane) decided to stand next to us in the 1st half and then waited for the alty fans to walk past the end which was laughable......good job the alty/utd youth firm didn't go  ;D

Well done PP and the players....look at Stalybridge to see size of club doesn't guarantee anything....teams are clearly raising their games against us and even at 2-0 down coalville nor marine gave up.......a great xmas lets look forward to a happy new year.

Rowley out...we shouldn't be visiting these places tidy a set up though it was the away end was about 2 feet deep.....

Frustrating first half where we couldn't get going. Much better second half,   don't know if was because of a bollocking or the bottom half of the pitch was much more playable.

Don't think they really troubled all game and we should have scored 5.

Densmore was my mom.

Lucky we got out alive with their firm being on a par the GSE.

Think we took time to adjust to the slippery top half of the pitch, last 15 mins of the first half we started to flow better and got out just rewards against a very physical opposition.

Second half we dominated and the lower part of the pitch was in much better condition and suited our play.

Overall a great team effort again and agree Dens was superb today.

Well chuffed today and made the 4 hr round trip palatable as top of the league and pulling away.

Personally I am so glad PP saw the light and put Densmore back at RB.

Densmore has been class since has been back in.

Can't see White getting a start just yet

A day more along to conference travels with the time it took.

We just didn't click first 40 minutes. A woeful save on a free kick gifted us the lead.

A stronger ref would have probably taken charge of their CB manhandling Hulme, but once we scored they couldn't focus solely on him which gave us more room to play.

How Tom Peers didn't make (at the time 3) 4, still bemuses me. But a solid 3-0 after a early setback.

Hopefully tomorrow is on, and we can look to increase the gap to 12
