Also worked with Kettering when we beat them 3-2 with a late Ken McKenna goal ???in the nearly season when it was possibly the loudest chant I’ve ever heard in the Golf Rd!

I like hearing the Come On Alty chant going on minutes on end. I can remember years ago Morecambe fans doing it all second half at Moss Lane (obviously they were not chanting Come On Alty) .

I seem to recall in the 80s and maybe 9os when the opposing keeper took a goal kick the golf road would chant youve got aids and vd your not going to wembley .

Reminds me of the chant I read about directed at Hampton and Richmond Borough (known as the Beavers) - "you are Beavers, you are Beavers, we don't give a dam"! And the one about Grimsby legend John-Lewis. They're fans sang "his name's a department store", so some opposition fans sang "he's just a s*** Marks and Spencers"!
One that's been bugging me for a while now is the Wembley chant we haven't heard (or any variant thereof) since probably the days of John King - "we're on the march with Kingy's army, all the way to Wembley". No obvious reason for its retirement I can see, we just don't seem to use it anymore.

We used to shout "Dalglish" as the 'keeper took a goal kick. I never did find out why. And then there was the story about the Morecambe 'keeper's mum...

I was hoping that "Once, twice, three times to Wembley" could be changed to "We've won....at Wembley". Ah well, maybe next year (he said for the umpteenth time).

Whoops. I defined base as 'crude', not the crowd of singers. My error for not being clearer.

I heard the song 'IOU' by Freeez a few days ago somewhere and it made me think that the tune might be strong enough to carry a chant of some sort.
