Title: AGM News
Post by: Sarf London Alty on June 08, 2019, 12:02:30 PM
As widely predicted then Aldershot to get a reprieve at the expense of Gateshead.

As less widely predicted Gateshead to be relegated to the National North instead. Odd. I assumed they’d be slung out of the National League structure altogether. I guess Blyth, Spenny, Darlo pleased for an extra local derby but seems bizarre when they appear to be a total mess off the pitch.

Which also means Oxford will stay in the South and only Gloucester will come North. Shame-was looking forward to that one.

It surprised me, too, to see that we will be playing Gateshead. I suppose relegating them, without expelling them from the league completely, is one of those compromises which don't make a lot of sense.

Gateshead have said they are going to remain full-time. As they finished fairly high up in the National League, they should, in theory, be one of the strongest teams next season, but I am not sure how many of their players (if any!) they still have.

They appear not to have a pot to p**s in. Perhaps we should lend them our redundant green and white one  ;D

Losing sympatrhy with Gateshead...not the first time they've clearly overstretched thenmselves and we had the same sob story last season and everyone fell over themselves feeling sorry for them....then their fans were gloating at another good season full time....and calling it a shoe string budget..

I believe this is a fan led ownership meaning they will have to cut their cloth accordingly...with travel costs Nuneaton will tell them what sort of a team they can cobble together in a self sustaining way.

Yes a few local derbies for them but they'll be lucky to get over 750 for anything other than darlo...

I'm expecting another sh*t or bust attempt to return

Probably worth mentioning this will probably have negative connotations regarding our Boxing Day / NYD fixtures.

Now Yorkshire/NE has been evened up, we're more likely to get Curzon than was previously the case.

Reckon they might have sent us to Southport and Chester to Telford, but I doubt it now.

At least Curzon is easy for me here in Marple!
