Title: Ground development
Post by: brisbane_alty on April 21, 2020, 12:40:37 PM
There are a couple of architect’s images of the proposed 10-year stadium development on the club’s Facebook page. It looks like there will be a roof covering all 4 sides of the ground, with terracing at the Golf Road and Chequers end, and seating along the other two sides.

Now, I'm not normally one to be positive. But even if nothing happens, very pleased to see some much-needed ambition off the field.

I've often said by developing visuals like this, you can attract funding by other ambitious people who want to be associated with the project.

I'm hoping they'll be a consultation process both with fans and the people of the town. But for the time being, it ticks the box of being ambitious, progress and - most importantly - professionally done.

We can worry about the finer details of seats and standing in 2026 when we're playing Forest Green in League 2.

Fan zones.

I do like the modern idea of fan zones - works quite well at City's ground, and I suspect they've got one eye on the potential of the corner where the Libero hut is.

I believe so.

An area many fans have been quite rightly crying out for more from.

It's part of a first phase of work that was scheduled for this summer, I've not heard anything to say that it won't be going ahead yet - despite the obvious circumstances at the moment.

Really ambitions and bold from the club. Will we achieve all of this within 10 years? Perhaps not, but lets be realistic and move from phase to phase, reassessing at the end of each one to make sure things are sustainable and thought out. That said, even if we achieve half of this then I admire the forward-thinking drive on display.

Key now is to make sure every step forward is communicated clearly and that the fans are consulted properly on any major developments.

If Phase 1 was/is due to be started in July 2020, will the club sharing plans on those stages for fans to feedback on?

The whole ground is a fan zone. I don't need a place where I can be an Alty fan, I AM an Alty fan at our home ground. No zones needed for that.

Bar that, it looks good with standing retained.

Grass pitch?

There was no mention of anything other than grass

It'd be nice to have somewhere to go at Half time, eat drink and socialise other than the CSH (which is busy most weeks)

Plans look great if the funding can be found, but is there a need to seat the Popside ? Maybe leave the two ends opposite the penalty areas standing

One article mentions creation of safe standing zones at the Golf Rd and Chequers end ?.......stood there myself at the last home game and did not feel in any danger

I think "Safe standing zones" is a technicality: they have to have certain characteristics to be named as such, but probably make very little difference, but looks good to the FA etc when it comes to promotion to the FL.

Agreed about the popular side prefer standing

Just for clarification,
Can you drink alcohol in the ground for National league and EFL2?

I'm pretty sure NLN/NLS is currently the highest level where you can drink on the terraces, though over the last year or so there has been the odd piece in the media about whether this should be relaxed for the NL and above.

Makes sense to have the two sides seated and the two ends standing - I agree I doubt the ends will look too different to how they do currently, but for a few minor tweaks.

The 'fan zone' thing might be foreign to some, but if you've got a bit of music on and some food trucks etc it can be a great place to congregate just like the sports hall can be.

How about we call it a bar under the stand? Is that okay?

Been there, done that. Was that a fan zone?

I do like the overall plans, all forward looking stuff that gives us a great place to call.home.

Yes but not on the terraces only in bars with no view of the pitch if a game is being played.

Perhaps we can get some seats from Rhyl  ;)

I'd look at it on a game by game basis for teams above our level - clubs/police use common sense and a bit of intelligence.
