Title: "it wasn't a 5-0 by any stretch of the imagination"
Post by: Paul Cain's Chip Pan on February 07, 2010, 03:19:19 PM
Pearls of wisdom from Tommy Widdrington.

According to every media source I have seen, it quite clearly states that we won 5-0 yesterday. To say "it wasn't a 5-0" is just utterly nonsensical. They failed to score and spectacularly failed to keep a clean sheet. It was as "5-0" as 5-0 can get. End of!

To be fair we did not deserve to win that game 5-0.

To be fair we did not deserve to win that game 5-0.

We did deserve it because we hit 5 shots that their keeper couldn't save and they failed to score any of their own chances. Football is very simple like that.

You can do all the fancy passing and neat interplay in the world but if you can't make it count you deserve to be beaten by whatever scoreline.

I hear what you're saying but on balance of play and chances created the scoreline flattered us.

Not that i'm complaining!

If the other side have a dodgy keeper susceptable to the lob, what are we supposed to do ? Score one and then say thank you very much we promise not to do it again ?

5-0 is 5-0 and stuff whether it falltered us or not. I thought that was what fooball was all about, exploiting the sides weaknesses ?

I wasn't a 5-0 however we took our chances very well.

A thoroughly enjoyable day

Oh dear me it was 5-0  ;D

Alty took their chances in front of goal, Salisbury didn't

Salisbury can pass the ball to death if they so wish but seeing the net bulge is the name of the game

WELL DONE ALTY, ONWARDS AND UPWARDS

It was 5 0 because they had a white version of Jerome John in nets and their striker managed to clear the newly built houses from 6 yards out with only Stu to beat!

I think that what people mean when they say "it wasn't a 5-0" is that we have played that well in the past and perhaps only won 1-0 or even drawn.

However, just because everything went right when normally things go wrong this doesn't mean the scoreline wasn't deserved.

Its a good team that can pass the ball all day.
Its a better one that can score 5 goals without reply.
I know who I would rather support.

Can we please stop moaning? It's a result weve waited a long time to see, yet some people are still not happy.

Not one single person on this thread has moaned about the result or the performance.

It could have been worse, you could have been a Salisbury supporter (or a Portsmouth supporter)  ;D

Well, I'm going to be the first. Why the hell couldn't debt ridden, full-time ,prima donnas Salisbury have scored a goal to make my prediction come true. ;D ;D ;D
