That's assuming you treat MK as being South. I usually think of it as just about being in the Midlands.

MK would definitely be though of as south. i went to work near oxford many years ago and they were appalled that i thought it was the midlands.

Probably down to a touch of geographical snobbery.

i'd based my geography on nothing more than oxford speedway riders used to ride in the midland riders championship.

pretty sure phil parkinson works on the basis that it works when it works and when it doesn't he'll live with it. that's all well and good over a league campaign, but when it come to knock-out games you've got to mix it up a bit.

Do Oldham have a radio service?

yes but being a previously BBB league club you have to pay to listen. radio alty was fine after the initial blip, although i must admit i slept through a lot of the second half. wasn't the best commentary line up yesterday but i guess being volunteers its down to who's available and giving everyone a go.

but it does have amateur hour written all over it.

i'm not very happy with this "losing to a club as big as" attitude. they are in the same division and sitting in a lower position. number of fans, size of ground, available money to spend, or club history is not how matches get won. no disgrace losing to a club in a similar competitive state would be a better outlook.

(Looking at some of yesterday's results I think we'd be even more cheesed off if they'd gone against us).

didnt think there'd be such a gap between oldham and rochdale attendances.

is the play-offs and third round of the FA cup too much to wish for?

I heard Mark Chapman on Radio 5 tonight mention Elliot Newby's getting booked for putting the ball in the in next after the whistle had gone as a booking for time wasting as if it was part of the new refereeing directive, but surely getting booked for that has been a thing for about twenty years?

Definite clamping down at all levels for time wasting and dissent; more lenient refs did previously let those go (often with a word in the ear of course), and given the way the ref played the rest of the game I think he'd have let that go last season. You can't really argue Alex hadn't heard the whistle go.

Alex of course, not Elliot.

i think the white kit with the red trim we had in the kevin hulmes/mark sertori season (one for the younger viewers) was very smart.

Maybe I'm misremembering but Dinanga had lots of scoring opportunities at Altrincham and kept missing them. Maybe it he'd put them away management and fans wouldn't have lost faith in him.

Look up the Old Hall on Stockport Road as well. The new manager was recently touting for away football fans business on the Alty fans Facebook group.

Much too predictable and pedestrian today. Bromley could read the approach play like a book. Hardly surprising the goal came from something different. There were chances though. Only needed one of them to be nicked past the keeper to have changed it altogether.
