Some teams will try anything to avoid coming to us 😂

Altrincham FC First Team / Late goals (continued)

Following on from the discussion in the Sutton match thread, I've had a quick analysis of when we scored the 20 goals we've notched in the league so far. As I suspected, 12 have been scored in the 62nd minute or later.

Of the other 8, we've scored two in the 10th and 11th minutes, four between the16th and 31st minutes, and two between the 39th minute and half time.

So we've not got off to a flying start to either half of any game - no goals before the 10th minute, nor in the opening 16 minutes of the second half. It may all be coincidence - or it may be that we're taking a while to get into our rhythm from "cold".

I was quite bemused by Clive Dunn sat somewhere near the microphone moaning his way through the game.

Sutton certainly didn't like it up 'em !

It's such a polarising topic. For me, football in general is a positive in a very dire situation. Without getting into detail, I still go to work all week and watching the Alty livestreams gives me something to look forward too away from what is happening.

Perhaps this is selfish, I'm not sure. I think people need football as a bit of normality during what has been an awful year.

All true and valid points. The season is already all over the shop in terms of timing. Having sport join what is meant to be a virus suppressant for a month is reasonable and proportionate I think.

A month ? Three months at least I'm guessing ! I see no problem if elite sport continues, as long as all the protocols are rigorously adhered to. Solskjaer's views on the effects on fans' mental health of stopping play resonate very much with me.

The lad Cardwell at Chorley looks decent.

Big and strong, holds up well but has a good touch too.

Difficult to evaluate a player from highlights but watching whole game today he looks better than okay

Only managed 1 goal in 39 games at Grimsby.

"That was my lowest moment because I knew I was at a good club, knew I was working for good people, and I wasn't able to do the job to the best of my ability at that time. I lost a little love for football".

Neil Young discusses his spell as Alty manager in the run-up to Sunday's FA Cup tie against Spurs.

Well I'd start Toby because we damn well SHOULD be on the front foot at home against teams in this league. We started on the back foot against Solihull Moors and look where THAT got us !

I was privileged to see Colin have an outstanding game at Wembley when England beat Sweden 3-1 in 1968. He was such a cool player, and always seemed to have time on the ball. He seldom wasted a pass. RIP Colin, and thanks for the memory.

Incidentally, if you'd told me that England's goalkeeper that night would later turn out for Alty, I doubt I'd have believed you.

Blyth and McDonald have been released - see Club site.

Blyth no worse than others we've tried up top, none of whom are any better than Peers (who would have given us 3 points but for Hinchliffe's top drawer block). Do we think Fylde might cut their losses on Hulme and sell him back at a loss ?

if refs gave press conferences we'd have a better understanding of how they see things, and they would have a better understanding of what we expect from them.

I often think that about wives / husbands

I always knew how my second wife saw things, and what she expected of me. She never quite had her expectations fulfilled.

He did, however, do one great business deal during his short stay. When he sold full back Paul Edwards to Crewe, he put a sell-on clause into the contract - not common back then - and when he subsequently moved on to Coventry City we received a tidy sum. 25K rings a bell.

He was a character. RIP Tommy.

I thought she was okay. She was probably a bit too the letter; we got a lot of freekicks our way against defenders/Moult which others would have let slide; the penalty against Tom and our penalty appeal I felt you have to give both.

Totally agree about the two penalties. Inconsistency is my biggest gripe against match officials. Apart from that I thought she was reasonable.

Is Kosylo available ? According to John Laidlar's site his booking at Halifax was his fifth.
