I imagine permanent loos in the away end too. Did I not hear we would have to add a roof to the away end also. Can the club clarify what needs doing to meet EFL standards? Now more than possible promotion odds cut further now. I do know the lease was extended fairly recently in the last 3-4 years I think.

A quick Google brings up this

This was an incredibly dumb move, and I don't want to let my distaste for the guy who runs BoA affect how I feel about this. It was terrible, no question the lad should at the very least miss this chance to see Alty promoted.

I just don't get how this had to be public? Have a word with the club, know they will be able to deal with it in house and be done with it or at least keep it somewhat private. Instead an Alty fan who goes home and away is publicly shamed.

It makes me delighted that he will be back filming NLS games at sports centres again rather than getting to feel big time on the coat tails of a loudmouth with a few bob to waste.

He absolutely deserves to be publicly shamed - it was a disgraceful thing to do - the fact that he didn't think he was being filmed doesn't matter one iota.

Totally agree, if you're going to be at a football match at this level in 2024 then there will be cameras everywhere. Mobile phones, social media, YouTube TNT, you name it. Poor behaviour is always more likely to be shown far and wide these days. It was a dreadful thing to do, our club's reputation has been damaged in public and so the response needs to be public from our club too.

I cleared all my cookies and my history and it made no difference other than losing all my saved passwords.

Totally fuuked up. Someone needs to get a grip because the forum is slowly going down the pan

A bit harsh that, given that this forum costs us absolutely nothing to use and is unofficial. Thank you to the person who keeps it online.

Bear in mind also that the number of people posting here has slumped over time, even when our crowds and fan base has grown.

Altrincham FC First Team / Re: York City Match Thread.

We've had over 2,000 for Maidenhead, Dorking and Woking. Two of those matches had United at home on the same day and the other was a Tuesday night. Those are tremendous attendances all things considered and I've no doubt the Oldham crowd will be huge. Very short memories indeed...

I don't get why replacing stands on an existing football stadium that's been in place for over 100 years and is an increasingly important part of the community is going to have all this nimbyism and planning issues when the alternatives mentioned such as Dunham, Broadheath, Long Hey etc. are surely going to have many different oppositions and huge associated costs anyway?

If someone can point out a brownfield site within walking distance of the town centre which won't need new roads building or any residents to moan about the traffic or noise then please let me know.

It's worth reading the history of how York's stadium came to fruition and it was an extremely painful and expensive journey getting there. They also had the advantage of building on the site of existing stadium along with all the added retail, cinema and community stuff. It's a focal point for the whole city and it's surrounds. There's no way the same could be applied in our case.

I genuinely don't see why we need to do anything mega drastic at our ground such as turning the pitch, buying allotments etc.  A massive can of worms and not just in terms of money. The EFL minimums are achievable and it would be easier and cheaper surely for Trafford to support with upgrading what we have than try something completely new?

There is a comprehensive message from Sam on the website

Good to read such a full explanation, also to hear that Dorking fans were looked after.

Anybody else intrigued by "However, we know we have some very big challenges ahead of us, and some potentially tough decisions to make" at the end? Is this a trailer for a ground move?

I'd say it's more a case of every pound we spend off the pitch is a pound less to spend on the team. The problem is that we've got a team which is getting better and better but a stadium that's woefully inadequate for this level and the crowds we now get. If we do manage to get promoted then it's an even more pressing issue. Things have come to a head on this and something has to give.

Credit to the club also for the quick and clear response.

We need a bigger solution than just fixing the pitch.

Trafford Council should have been bending over backwards to bring Sale home, now is the time more than ever with a future football league club in the borough.

The new hybrid turfs that are at old Trafford, Wembley etc. can easily handle the rigours of rugby and football.

Time to get serious about a new home. It's already not going to happen overnight.
Do not disagree if a genuine cost / benefit analysis proves to be positive....otherwise, why should Community Tax payers support private sports clubs ?

Totally agree with that. Bear in mind too that Sale Sharks currently play right by the border between Trafford and Salford so bringing them "home" would be a very expensive piece of symbolism. Moving us miles away from our community and support base would be a disaster and rip up all the good work done to build up the crowds.

The club has improved its PR and comms tremendously over the last few years, which means equally that there can be no radio silence or weasel words about what the issues exactly are and what will be done about them. No excuses or free passes here.

How bad is the debt? Likely to be recouped with promotoin?

Despite big cup runs its multi millions.
How do you know this Hashtag.....what is your source ?.....Accounts are not public....or speculation based on wage bill

Chesterfield's accounts are in the public domain, they are legally known as CFC 2001 Ltd and on Companies House. A quick look at the most recent accounts for 2021/2 showed they lost about £2.4m but a share issue and probable writing off of debts has made them solvent. Will be interesting to see where they are up to as of last summer when the accounts are published.

So how does our situation differ from that of FC Halifax. Are we leasing the ground from Trafford Borough?

I tried to register on the Shay men forum to find out what's going on but they don't seem to be signing up new members at the moment. Probably trying to avoid an influx of trolls

Given what happened in recent years, we're responsibile for the ground, and they the lands. Whereas Halifax own or operate neither.

Trafford own the freehold to the land on which our stadium sits. We lease the land from them and this is in place until 2095. The actual stadium itself belongs to the club. I believe the actual stadium in Halifax is owned by the council.

Altrincham FC First Team / Re: CEO has gone already. Q&A postponed.

Maybe didn't fancy the Q & A and being quized about what he does.🤥

I am puzzled by what a CEO is, and  does.
Would you prefer the term "Managing Director" They are in essence the same role?

Top dog in the building reporting to the board that owns the company. Buck should stop with them in terms of business decisions that adhere to the running operations.
I get that in retail ie Tesco and Sainsbury's etc but in a none league football club with modest turnover I think it's financially prudent to satisfy the criteria with one of the chairman fulfilling the role as they must have been doing pre CEO and will continue to do so now.

With respect, we're no longer an old school non league operation. We're a full time, professional football club that costs well over a million quid a year to run within a full time, national competition. The title of CEO might be a bit grand but there's no way you could have a chairman doing a full time CEO job like that at this level

We made a bank rolled team look very ordinary. Some fantastic attacking play with Dackers making an excellent debut. Finishing was much more clinical.

Disappointed no clean sheet.

A brilliant win and to put 6 past a team in the top 6 was tremendous. That said, we're probably a bankrolled team these days too...

Altrincham FC First Team / Re: Moss Lane Or New Ground
« on: September 08, 2023, 11:18:32 AM »
Trafford are already spending £20m plus on doing up the leisure centre so the notion of them then doing a massive new complex elsewhere would be dead in the water to be honest.

It's a nice idea in theory but you'd have the massive costs, politics and protests of paying off allotment holders, having to build new roads (Golf Road would be totally unsuitable in its current form), unhappy neighbours, green belt activists etc.

Do we actually need additional seating in the Popular Side? After visiting AFC Fylde for the first time in our recent league game, I think their ground is the ideal template for the size of club Alty can ever realistically be. Personally the main focus for me would be redeveloping the Main Stand and the hospitality/away stand. Knock them both down and rebuild from scratch. Redo the terracing at the Golf Road End, add a partial roof to the away end and maybe put on a new roof on the Popular Side, so it's all one level for possibly the first time this century! All of this ofcourse would cost alot of money, but its certainly needed as has been said before, Moss Lane is certainly showing its age. As for moving, the very limited spaces available  for a new ground near the town centre, and the fact, even if the club was in League 1 or 2, its difficult to see average crowds of much more than 4000, I wouldn't see that as being necessary.

I guess the issue is that it's a lot cheaper and simpler to build the single stand in one go without the need for any dressing rooms, hospitality, offices etc. The other issue is probably grading where you need capability for an extra 1000 seats in the football league and I don't know where else you do that without major knock on effects.
