Altrincham FC First Team / Rangers in the Conference National?
« on: January 16, 2013, 06:49:43 PM »

Conference members are to discuss the possibility of Rangers starting life in the Conference national, rather than play in Scotland.

Though the question of promotion / relegation would have to be looked at, and whether the Conference would increase the number of teams, or have a north v south playoff final for 1 season, whilst keeping the four relegation spots.

Altrincham FC First Team / Wembley FC sign......
« on: June 21, 2012, 09:11:45 PM »
Wembley FC have signed former England internationals  Graeme Le Saux, Martin Keown, and Ray Parlour. They have also signed former argentinian striker Claudio Caniggia and former American striker Brian McBride for their upcoming FA cup fixtures. Wembley FC have also appointed David Seaman as goalkeeping coach and Terry Vennables as technical advisor.
No this is not football manager, this is all thanks to a new sponsorship deal with a famous brand of beer.

Altrincham FC First Team / Tamworth appoint Law
« on: May 25, 2011, 11:27:55 AM »
Tamworth have appointed Kettering's Law as their new manager.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/t/tamworth/9496197.stm

Kettering are rumoured to appoint LADAK as interim boss, in their quest to remain in the Conference. Kettering are still mulling over whether the merge with Rushden & Diamonds. And are still searching for a new ground.

Altrincham FC First Team / Tamworth lose appeal regarding keeper
« on: April 29, 2011, 08:33:09 PM »
Tamworth had appealed the Conference's decision not to allow them to sign an emergency keeper, due to injuries to their current duo.

The conference decision (surely without Mr Peake's intervention??) decided Tamworth would not be allowed to sign a keeper for their final game against FGR.

Apparently, the FA have upheld this decision, and Tamworth will play their relegation decider with an outfield player between the sticks.

Lump on FGR to win then...

Altrincham FC First Team / The Last Stand
« on: April 25, 2011, 04:58:55 PM »
Right, were still in it till saturday. The remaining games are:

Alty v Eastbourne; Alty need to win
FGR v Tamwuff; draw means both cannot be caught by alty
Kettering v Southport; Kettering need to win

If FGR, Tampax and Southport all draw, Alty will need to win by 20 clear goals to stay up..

we need two of FGR, Tammy and southport to lose (and us to win) in order to stay up.

Its bloody possible!!!

C'mon lads, just one more game to go. :o

Altrincham FC First Team / Histon throwing in the towel??
« on: March 24, 2011, 06:20:22 PM »
histon have allowed their No1 keeper to go "on loan" to Stevenage Borough.

Leaves them with a young inexperienced back up fella whose only started 1 game for them.

Altrincham FC First Team / Hewson departs
« on: March 21, 2011, 09:12:07 PM »
Hewson has been released. He made 14+ 9 appearances for Alty.

Showed some skill, but really struggled fitness wise. Shame really, as when he did play he looked like a decent attacking option.

Thanks for the effort.

Altrincham FC First Team / Darlington in mess. Kiddy appoint Rolls
« on: February 15, 2011, 10:25:10 PM »
No, not Chris Senior getting injured.

But the ground's holding company is allegedly being put into receivership. This effectively means they wont have a lease for the ground, and breach a load of FA/Conference rules. If it isnt sorted quickly, Darlington could be thrown out of the league.

Interestingly, despite the ground being a couple years old, the article seems to allude to building a smaller ground, that is more cost effective.

Still stunned that the chairman "puts in" 1,000,000 a year into the club to keep in running.

-update-
Kiddy have appointed George Rolls to help them getting out of there financial mess.

This is the guy who messed Cambridge Utd up last year.

Well, that's another place sorted in the AGM cup.

Altrincham FC First Team / Are Histon Next??
« on: October 26, 2010, 08:41:26 PM »
http://www.hmcourts-service.gov.uk/cms/list_companies_winding.htm

They are a bit screwed financially, but they don't seem to be even aware of any impending disaster.

Official statement from Histon:
Histon Football Club Ltd has been made aware of the appearance of the Company on the Companies Court Winding Up List for Wednesday 27th October published here.

The Directors and Officials would like to state categorically that the Club has received no notification of winding up proceedings and consequently that the reason for the Company to appear on this list is unknown. Nothing further can be done until the Court office opens at 9am tomorrow morning, which is the first opportunity the Club will have to determine the source of the action, if any. A further statement will be issued tomorrow, Wednesday, when more is known.

Club Chairman Russell Hands said: "This has come totally and utterly out of the blue, but I'm actually getting used to that now. In my three months in the job, each time we get over one hill, the next one seems to be a little bit taller."

"We will deal with this latest issue just like all the others, we will work something out, there's no doubt about that."

Altrincham FC First Team / McCarthy Goes
« on: October 26, 2010, 06:30:10 PM »
Altrincham FC announce that they have released striker James McCarthy. 25 year-old James was signed from Warrington Town on 27 August 2010, having been on trial at Crewe Alexandra a fortnight before that. Before joining Warrington he played for Mossley, Leek Town, Alsager Town, and Kidsgrove Athletic. He went on to make eight appearances for Altrincham, three of which were as a used substitute. The Club thanks James for his services and wishes him well for the future.

Possibly didnt get the run out that he expected. Looked ok, but a bit rusty in front of goal.
Hopefully Twiss is still going to the weight watchers meetings.

Altrincham FC First Team / stalybridge going full time?!?!
« on: June 03, 2010, 10:08:28 PM »
From main site:
"Last season Stalybridge Celtic's average home gate was 472 but they are following the AFC Wimbledon model of going full-time on a smallish budget, with an emphasis on youth. It can also be confirmed that Celtic intend to become a full time club in July, although it is important to put this in context. Sadly, we will never be able to financially compete with the big spenders in our league and we need to look to a different way of trying to achieve promotion. As a result of the current environment, and despite the fact that we are going full-time, Jim's budget will actually be slightly lower than the one Steve Burr started last season with so if we cannot buy our way out of this league we need to be more creative in how we face the challenges ahead.

Consequently we have made the decision to go forward with a focus much more based on youth, a policy that is sure to find favour with the club’s supporters."

On an average of 472?!?? Are there no limits to this lunacy??? Wot will happen to Oneill, peyton and the rest of our old boys?

Perhaps we could line up with this amount of kids in the side next season.

Athetico (ie all eleven of them) won 5-3.

Altrincham FC First Team / Senior's Letter
« on: May 18, 2010, 11:49:34 PM »
From our lovely informative main site:

Chris Senior has written the following Open Letter to Altrincham FC.
"I'd like to take this opportunity to thank every single person connected with Altrincham F.C for their fantastic support over the past three and a half seasons.

My decision to leave was not an easy one and the phone call to Graham to explain my decision was one of the hardest things I've ever had to do. The club is managed fantastically and I support the board with their stance on how they run a football club.

The chance for me to return to full time football was too good an opportunity for me to turn down and I hope that my decision is understood and respected.

I made some great friends at Alty, not just players but supporters, and I plan to return to Moss Lane as many times as possible to watch. Hopefully when I return as a player you'll give me the awful reception I expect you to give to every opposing player next year!

Good luck for 2010/11, except for when we meet, and keep up the great support of the boys!

Chris"

Thanks chris. Hope you have a good season, but miss a load of sitters against us. Top bloke, shame he's gone. But i'm still looking forward to another season in the BSBP
