Altrincham FC First Team / Weather forecast?
« on: October 01, 2020, 12:04:11 PM »
Lots of heavy rain forecast for Saturday. Having the first game washed out would be a rubbish way to start the new season...any thoughts on using the pitch covers?

Altrincham FC First Team / Great game, odd ref
« on: September 13, 2014, 05:24:21 PM »
Some very good football played there today, finished off by 3 superb goals. Adam Griffin thoroughly deserved man of the match. Eastleigh finishing was pretty clinical, they took their few chances very well.

Hate to comment on referees as generally at this level their decisions are fairly random, but that was quite a bizarre attitude towards pushing. Then to let Eastleigh take the free kick before their third equaliser from pretty much where they wanted to was the icing on the sh*te

So proud of all the players, management, staff and fans after that. Jesus H Corbett that was tense!
Was dreading penalties (esp after Wally went off and their keeper was having a stormer) but up steps supersub Greg Wilko who sent us all mental with his first touch.
Effing fantastic! Proud of all Alty today.

Alty are without the ill Simon Richman, the suspended Danny Hall and Danny Mitchley, who has gone on loan to Marine. However, they have James Lawrie and Carl Rodgers back from injury, on the bench. Jordan Sinnott, on loan from Hudderfield Town, starts as does Patrick Lacey.

Altrincham FC First Team / Sky sports matches in club bar this weekend?
« on: October 22, 2010, 08:04:28 PM »
Just wondered if the live games on Sky will be shown in the bar this weekend? I'm planning on a 2 day liver buster around our cup game!

It didn't work with Steve Aspinall, it didn't work with Gary Scott, it doesn't work with Chris Lane (who is a good right back).
So why keep trying it?
Unfortunately Uncle Val has gone.

Altrincham FC First Team / Can't just blame the manager
« on: September 15, 2007, 08:40:23 PM »
just got back from Woking and it was a very poor game.

We started with the kind of formation that a lot of people have disagreed with (Aspinall at LB, Lawton RM, O'Neill up front etc.) and then changed with about 30 mins to go with a midfield of Potts, Sedge, Lawton, Peyton and then Clancy at LM, with Senior coming on up front for Joe (something more like what a lot on here have suggested). To be fair to GH it made very little difference - we were still poor and that's down to the players, not the manager. Some have said we have a better team 'on paper' than last season. I don't see it. There's still little creativity. Can;t think of an Alty player who actually played quite well today, possibly Shotton, who looked quite solid in defence.

Aspinall did OK at LB until the 90th min blunder (not all his fault as Tinson seemed involved too), but the writing was on the wall by then. Clancy came on & sliced his first pass in to the crowd and then fell over, probably a bit nervous cos, to be fair, after that he looked OK - couple of nice crosses and got forward more. Still think Peyton might be our best bet at LB.

Without a solid defensive midfielder (Val) we always look shakey and different line-ups seem to make little difference. One thing that would be better would be Senior instead of Joe for a few games. Senior is busy and rattled their keeper a little today, Joe does not really worry opposition defences.

Still, i don't think we're as sh*t as Northwich.

Altrincham FC First Team / Colin's column
« on: February 09, 2007, 11:23:47 PM »
Another very good column in the SAM from Colin Little - very honest.

We all know Colin is Alty through and through and we all know Colin has the class to nail any defence in this division. There's plenty of games to go and plenty of chances to nail it- let's keep at 'em!!!

COME ON ALTY!!!!
