Altrincham FC First Team / Altrincham FC - New CEO
« on: June 23, 2023, 09:22:44 PM »
I guess with this fanboard being down, we missed posting about this news, but I guess we have to welcome our (first ever??) CEO - John Williams. I don't know exactly why we have one now/didn't have one before, but I sense it's another step in becoming a more professional outfit. Anyway good luck to the guy :)

Altrincham FC First Team / Wrexham 5 Dover 5 !!
« on: March 26, 2022, 05:02:46 PM »
Not wanting to dampen the celebration of our last minute goal today, but this is a very surprising result. If you had told me before the game that there was going to be 10 goals, I would have bet my house on 10-0 to Wrexham !!

Altrincham FC First Team / First Round Draw

We have approx 1.2% chance of getting a bye (with full prize money) into the second round due to Bury expulsion from competition

First ball out gets it...we are no 55.

Altrincham FC First Team / Relegation/promotion logistics
« on: April 06, 2019, 06:51:33 PM »
Probably this has been discussed countless times, but I was looking at the sides coming down from the league above and they are all very much Southern clubs. `I am guessing that the most Northern of the Southern league clubs will move from south to north...or is there more to it? Who is it likely to be?

Altrincham FC First Team / Warrington Replay - Error on Main Website
« on: December 17, 2017, 11:48:37 AM »
A rare mistake on our normally excellent man website. Seems that on this first page under next game it shows :

Sat. 23 Dec. 2017: WARRINGTON TOWN (Home) 7.45pm
 Sat. 23 Dec. 2017: POYNTON (Home) 2pm
 Sun. 17 Dec. 2017: SOUTHPORT (Home) 2pm
TBA

Whereas I think looking at the fixtures it is a few days before that. I am guessing someone here can fix this :)

Caught my eye as I can't remember ever having a Saturday match in the evening.

Altrincham FC First Team / Looking at the Table Tonight..
« on: September 27, 2017, 08:01:46 PM »
The table looks pretty positive.

Looking beyond the 5th place position is the fact that every game where we dropped points (4 of them basically) were against teams now sitting in the bottom half of the table - every team in the top half we beat whether home or away.

When one then considers that 3 of those 4 games were basically the first 3 games of the season, things look even better. Plus we haven't played any of the bottom 5 teams yet. After the last 2 seasons I am nervous and being unduly optimistic, but tonight I am feeling (hopefully not unduly) optimistic :)

Altrincham FC First Team / AGM Cup
« on: April 25, 2016, 04:07:14 PM »
Am I right in thinking that most of the clubs have stayed relatively solvent this year...so no chance of an AGM Cup reprieve??

Altrincham FC First Team / Goal Difference
« on: March 19, 2016, 05:17:50 PM »
This may end up being the critical factor for 3 clubs this season.

Torquay, Alty and Halifax all have GD of -21. Torquay and Alty are level on points and played the same no of games. Halifax have played one less, are 1 point behind and are averaging a point a game, more or less. It couldn't be tighter...so todays 4 goals could end up being hugely significant.

Altrincham FC First Team / Well Done
« on: December 13, 2014, 05:03:38 PM »
Great result !!!

I assume from the lack of activity on this fan forum that I was basically the only Alty fan in the world not at the game - hope it was as great as the result :)

Altrincham FC First Team / Wikipedia
« on: September 09, 2013, 11:03:22 AM »
I just looked at the Alty Wiki site. MAde interesting reading

A couple of things struck me as odd :-

1. Notable former players didn't include Jackie Swindles or John King (amongst others)

2. " Altrincham's record attendance was 10,275 for a friendly against Sunderland on 28 February 1925." Can this be true?????

Altrincham FC First Team / Next Season
« on: April 20, 2009, 08:04:13 PM »
Should be a cracker for us.

On the one hand Vics are probably down, which is a shame, but Wrexham have failed to go back up, and who can forget the fine crowd they brought early in the season (plues the 'easy' 4 points they gave us :) )

In addition, Chester should also be a cracking game, plus AFC Wimbledon, a team for whom I have a great deal of sympathy and can't wait to see at Moss Lane. The old Wimbledon were an inspiration to every non-league club till they went bad, and AFCW hopefully will do it again (although not at our expense!)

With the bigish crowds that these games should draw plus hopefully we'll get at least 1 televised game next season, maybe the finances won't be as bad as everybody fears?
