There’s been some chatter around Sam Roscoe. Ex Aberdeen, Ayr United and Linfield last season. A tall, commanding ball playing Centre Half by all accounts. He’s a North West lad, and has just left Linfield “ to return to England to be closer to his family “.

He is a cousin of Ollie Byrne.

Coincidence?

I’m beginning to think that the ‘new’ formation with the 3 Centre Backs is here to stay, certainly with the players we currently have in the squad. It’s making us more solid at the back, albeit Southend did miss some chances. Our first clean sheet for months tells its own story, I’d be amazed to see Parky change it for the semi next week.

Baines was excellent, and Fergie had his best game since coming back to us. I’d love to think we have a chance of signing him permanently next season.

Sinclair was part of the warm up yesterday, I’m sure Parky is getting him right for Halifax. He played a lot of games after virtually nothing at Rochdale, I’m sure there was a reaction to that. Would love to see him flying next Sat.

For me it was Marriott, he was awesome.

Lundstram ran him close for me, and Jordan was immense.

Game of opinions, but those around me were buzzing with Isaac’s performance. We may be lucky to hold on to him in the summer …can only imagine he’ll be the next one on the radar of the sharks, if he isn’t already

Linney stuck in traffic, Osborne been promoted with Linney on the bench.

I’d just add…if you need a Concession ticket of any denomination ( Pensioner / Student / Child etc) then they have to be purchased at the ground on the day. Along with proof of qualifying for the concession. Only adult tickets are available online in advance.

…..and what a belter!

Signed too, paid a fee … no loan.

Let’s hope he matches the hype.

Welcome Regan

If Toby moves back to Centre Half with this loanee coming in at Right Back, then who should partner him in the middle … Baines or James Jones?

Some Grade A moaning going on in here today! Even more than normal…..which is quite an achievement. An outsider wouldn’t believe we are in our strongest League position for years, in a good position to reach the 1/4 Final of the Trophy, transitioned successfully to a full time model, in a current unbeaten 10 game run….as well as being financially sound (particularly in the current cost of living ‘crisis’ — see Southend/Sc*nthorpe).
Ok - we’ve sold a top player and some loans have gone back to their parent Clubs….it’s football! I prefer to trust the Management Team that got us here in the first place, instead of all the doom and gloom merchants in here, to sort out the players we may need in as replacements.
Honestly guys, give your heads a wobble!

Whether it’s Sat or Tuesday , I think he’ll take the opportunity to give some lads game time. I’m thinking Hulme, Osborne, Pringle, Gould will all get a run out, possibly Denanga too.

It’s the sheer lack of consistency that is stupefying. All football is off tomorrow, yet the Test Match and BMW Golf both go ahead tomorrow.

I’d really like a logical explanation for that !

PS. Has anyone any idea when the team photo will be up on one of the sites?

It’s on Facebook

Didn’t see that coming!  Great to have him back but that’s strengthened the position we were already strongest in. Can one of our 4 CB play left back as cover / competition for Liam?

Baines can play LB
Can remember James Jones playing full back too, in fact when he was a trialist I’m pretty sure he played RB first half and LB second half in one match.

« on: July 25, 2022, 06:35:52 PM »
Phil was a true Alty fan, supporting home and away for years now, rarely missing a match.  He was also a great friend to me outside of Alty…I worked with him for 15 years at British Gas Welman House, and was his golf partner at Heyrose Golf Club for a similar period. Had so many laughs with him over the years, will miss him greatly. His son Stuart is a great credit to his Dad, when things settle down I hope I can continue to stand with Stuart and Nik on the Golf Road and share memories of his Dad. RIP Phil, you will be missed immensely.
