Explain that to the people now desperately trying to contact anyone who has been in contact with the poor woman who has been identified with this virus, and the people with whom they have been in contact, and their families and friends, their neighbours, work colleagues etc etc.. The virus is out there spreading. Complacency is as well. The two are linked.

The first case of Coronavirus amongst the indigenous population of North Yorkshire has been identified today.  No information about where but thereís a good reason for that. Absolutely disgraceful decision from the National League.

Hereís a plan:
-postpone all this seasonís outstanding matches and hold the league table as is;
-roll over outstanding matches to next season;
-maintain leagues as they are;
-start next season a week early and extend it, using the play off period, and thereby accommodating the extra matches;
-automatic promotion only- no promotion through play offs
-league table is cumulative, effectively for two seasons.

Then wait and hope weíre through the worst by August.

Isnít it more about the integrity of the competition, with various clubs having players, staff etc who will need to self-isolate, than about the public health risk of staging matches?
Absolutely right. Itís about players, staff, officials and their families and friends as well. Iím afraid the seasonís over, whether now or in a couple of weeks. The chance  to contain it has been missed.

At last some attention paid to the stadium! It will be interesting to see how the plans meet the minimum criteria for the EFL, which include, the last time I looked, a minimum of 2000 seats in a minimum 5000 capacity. Also interesting to see how enhanced commercial/hospitality facilities will  be accommodated.

Iím sure there will be more to come on this, but the Chairmanís address at the AGM, reported on the Alty Files site, as with many Club statements,  is more revealing for what it doesnít say, than what it does. Absent are:
- a reason for stepping down;
- a review of performance on the pitch during his tenure, and the prospects for the future;
- thanks to the ordinary paying and travelling supporters.

Altrincham FC First Team / Re: Latest replica shirt option

Surely, if the Club is to campaign effectively on this issue, then in addition to the occasional attention grabbing event, it should incorporate the rainbow colours permanently into the Club kit. For example, in a diagonal rainbow flash on a bottom segment of the shirt, front to back. Then it would be more than a short lived media hit, but would have a really permanent wide reaching impact. Revolutionary, yes, but are there any rules to stop it?
And, as an added benefit, guess who the BBC would pick for a live FA Cup match: if we ever get that far again, that is.....

Well I doubt weíll see much more of Bay Downing given that heís gone to Salisbury, with its beautiful cathedral and 123 metre high steeple.

Some women will be grateful and some will feel patronised by it, but donít make a big ďperiod povertyĒ song and dance about it when youíre charging women £13 for the privilege of watching a non league football match. Just do it, quietly, if you think itís the right thing to do. Otherwise it just looks like virtue signalling.

If you were a Cheshire businessman/woman with a bit of cash, big ideas and expertise, interested in football, and some time and energy to spare, would you rush off to ring the Club as soon as you read that?

What would the new stadium bring?
[/quote]

The following:
- a new vision for the Club
- new ownership
- new leadership.

And thatís just for starters...

At last, the ďstrategic reviewĒ becomes strategic and looks beyond the 5 year timeframe which shackled its terms of reference. These discussions should have happened years ago. In my view, sustainable full time football will require a new stadium, so letís get moving with it.

Altrincham FC First Team / Re: Darlington Match Thread
« on: August 26, 2018, 08:56:20 AM »
How pleasant it was! A walk in the park at Darlingtonís South Park, followed by another at Blackwell Meadows. Darlingtonís players could perhaps take to the bowling green, and still find they lack aggression and skill. Still, Alty managed to be superb at missing the target in a bizarrely one sided first half. Hulme took up the baton from Johnstoneís grandstanding silliness in the second half, and also got booked. Meanwhile Darlington continued to delight with little dinked, flighty corners and their defendersí determination to run away from the ball at the most critical moments. Then came a spell of improved finishing, with a couple of shots on target, and a couple of goals. As if waking up from a dream, late on, Darlingtonís top bowls prospect headed a ball towards South Park. The Alty goal was in the way of the flight of the ball, but all of a sudden, a balletic, leaping, twisting Wynne produced the top quality moment of the match to flip it away. A first trip down from the Dales this season and it didnít disappoint. Johnstoneís dramatically strapped up leg and painful hobbling wasnít a pretty sight though.

Itís interesting that heís gone public with this (again). There needs to be a decision soon, not least because of the planning and resourcing involved, but also, the now very public uncertainty could affect player recruitment in the meantime.
