Just realized that, if there isn't a fixture backlog to sort out, Macclesfield's demise potentially leaves a two week gap between our visit to Weymouth and our last game at home to Torquay.

Glad they gave us Stockport for Christmas and new Year then!

Iím certain that was deliberate on both our & Stockportís part in terms of anticipating Macc might not be here by Xmas & not wanting to miss out on the traditional Christmas local derby games. I remember a few years back with one of the various Chester FC iterations we made sure we played them at home on the August B/H to maximise gate receipts before they had the plug pulled on them later that season.

Iíd say in terms of active dislike & needle on both sides that Chester is the nearest we have to a proper local rival now, Stockport that just isnít there for me, though if we both stay in the same league for a few seasons & the games are tight then who knows.

On a final note obviously some sympathy for the Macc fans but the chickens have finally come home to roost for them, itís been an on-going catalogue of numerous EFL disciplinary offences, late (or not at all) paid players & staff, racked up huge debts all whilst trumpeting the Ďmiracleí of winning the Conference 2 years ago. Weíll hopefully see AFC Macc & 1874 Northwich one day again.

100%.

Every time I open the forum & see another essay on Covid from Hugh or JD I just ignore it. Getting a bit tedious now lads.

Nantwich away this Saturday, with a capacity of 600 set I believe. Assuming no Covid issues if you want to go then youíll get in.
4  General Category / Altrincham FC First Team / Re: Season tickets 2020/21 on: September 05, 2020, 10:19:53 PM
Iíd heard weíd sold about 100 by late last night, so 150 by now seems about fair, excellent start & vital cash flow for the club too.

I wouldnít overly worry if you donít have one, if the widely quoted 30% figure is correct then we are allowed up to 2310 fans in the ground (in theory) & I assume a certain % of tickets will always be held back for individual match sales too.

Absolutely superb, really enjoyed that, thanks to all at Alty TV for a great production.

Re the 2 year contract issue I do think there has to be some leeway for the management & squad whoíve taken us from our lowest ebb back to our natural level in just 3 seasons & should justly be rewarded. I also trust the new co-Chairs to make the right call for the wider benefit of the club in the medium & long term-not something I would have necessarily said about the previous regime to be frank.

Signings like this & Kosylo are really promising. For the first time in years it feels like we are going in the National to try & attack it rather than tread water. A fascinating season in prospect.

+1

We will not just be making up the numbers this season. But time will tell, all too early to predict where we will finish, but it is looking very promising for an interesting season and many a shout of "Part time and we're proud of it" and "do you practice that all week".

We train twice a week, we train twice a week, how s*** must you be?, we train twice a week

Iíd like us to leave all that stuff in past, just my opinion like. But a new air of forward thinking professionalism should go right through the club, supporters included. That small time siege mentality stuff was great when we were hanging on for dear life. Not any more, we are that yo yo outfit anymore.

100%. That chant & mentality summed us up perfectly in the Heathcote era but we can see on and off the pitch the club is looking to move forward & going full time & being a serious competitor in the National League must be part of that.

Second player now Iíve seen too in his interview make reference to our financially incontinent neighbours. Good now most of them have been here 3 seasons that the current squad know who the must win games of next season are against. Macc home and Macc away, then the rest.

Spenny fans seem to rate him & seems he wanted to come here too so a good signing for me-his Dad being Celtic GK legend Jonathan Gould & his grandad Bobby Gould shows he comes from good footballing stock too. As a complete side point he is just about the most well spoken Alty player Iíve ever heard interviewed. Welcome to Alty Matt.

Fair enough, 31, possibly last chance of full time football.

He did himself proud in the short stay and without doubt we wouldn't be promoted without his contribution.

I would hope no stick is directed towards him, as some ex players have been harshly treated.

Absolutely this.

Short term deal, we got promoted, he gets a move to a bigger club and FT football-everyoneís a winner. Just make sure we donít concede any pens against Wrexham next season as heís the most assured penalty taker Iíve seen at the club in recent times.

I like it-something different & a fresh look. To note I believe the players were also consulted & gave it the thumbs up too. Good work by the club & with the launch online today too.
13  General Category / Altrincham FC First Team / Re: Zone on: August 15, 2020, 03:20:58 PM
how much will this reduce our capacity??

Itís flat ground in front of an exit gate and some old turnstiles. I would be surprised if itís even included in our official capacity myself.
14  General Category / Altrincham FC First Team / Re: Local derby on: August 12, 2020, 06:29:48 PM
Who else had a punt on them to be relegated? In negotiations with Bet 365 as if I can expect a pay out.
15  General Category / Altrincham FC First Team / Re: What about the "Mark Eckersall fan zone" in tribute? on: August 11, 2020, 10:47:27 PM
I think naming the new fan zone in his honour is a very good idea & something that should definitely be closely considered.

However, naming stands or ends of the ground after supporters is not something I think we should do, there would be plenty of legendary players and managers in line for that kind of accolade first. I also agree with Hugh that itís something Ecky himself would have thought a bit  OTT.

I know though itís on the Boards mind though to properly & permanently reflect the huge contribution that Ecky (and George H of course) made to the club & they will want to speak to their families too but yes itís good for people to discuss & kick ideas round on here.
