Altrincham FC First Team / The power of the scarfe

Bumped into a chap in a shop in Paisley the other day - a scout (I didn't catch his name) - who recognised my scarf and said he was a friend of one of the Alty family: Nigel Bunce.

It is wonderful when Alty is recognised across the country; it is how I befriended a Scunny fan in Largs.

Of course, I do get accused of being a fan of teams from Sunderland to - embarrassingly - Aberdeen!

Anyone else had any of these great, random meetings?

Altrincham FC First Team / Discipline

I notice that, for the 2nd game running, we have not had a single booking.
This can't be something that happens very often and, I think, shows great discipline in the team's conduct and in the nature of the play.

However, we have also given away a few disappointing goals, so I ask: is it all good discipline, or is there, maybe, a little naivety sometimes in that there are times when we might need to be a little more cynical?

Congratulations to Karen Rowley and Mark Harris on their recognition.

Many years ago I had been very ill and the next time I got to Moss Lane on hols from Scotland, Karen was selling Golden Goal tickets and immediately recognised me and asked so very kindly how I was.
She recognised me every year I managed to get down to Altrincham either for a game or the Alty festival, and I will never forget that kindness (and that of Bath Alty and Mrs Bath at that time too!)

I had the great good fortune to be invited by Lawrence Looney to the team photo and su sequent hospitality put on for the volunteers. 

It was lovely to chat with the very impressive Conor Hampson, Lawrence, Parkie, Flynny and many more who do our club proud.

As someone who suffers social anxiety, as does my Jennifer, who was with me, I would like to thank Lawrence especially, and all involved for their warm, friendly, hospitality.

I want to add my thanks to the great volunteers at the J  Davidson.

as did West Allotment Celtic, though I daresay their pitch might be a bit rubbish! Love too see the local derby against East Allotment Rangers!
