Altrincham FC First Team / Owen Dale
« on: October 21, 2021, 09:32:30 AM »
Made his Blackpool debut as a 64th minute substitute last night with Reading 2-0 up. Scored within 5 minutes, then provided the cross for the equaliser. Blackpool won 3-2 with a penalty. Blackpool Gazette rated him 9 out of 10.

Well done Owen !

Altrincham FC First Team / OK - I'll hold my hand up....

.... I've often been critical of our substitutions. Just watched the highlights of yesterday's game. Furman sends Jackson clear, Jackson puts in a peach of across that Peers duly buries. What do I know ? 😂

Altrincham FC First Team / Yeovil Town match thread
« on: October 09, 2021, 08:16:35 PM »
Yeovil neither score nor concede many goals. Their tally of 8 goals from 7 matches includes 3 at Edgeley Park.

Defensively, they've lost 2-0 at home to both Chesterfield and (this afternoon) Notts County, and their other 5 games have seen only 5 goals conceded.

I believe we can grind out a result. A draw would put us into the bottom of the playoffs in 7th, while a win would lift us to 5th.....and we would still have a game in hand.

We need to believe in ourselves, and be positive.

Due to work commitments Joe has now left us and signed for Rylands FC. A great pity - I thought he looked really useful.

Altrincham FC First Team / FA Cup Draw on Monday

I'd like Atherton Collieries/Marine at home. We'll probably get Guiseley away - we've never won there.

In their four home games so far their record reads 3-1-0 15-7.

That suggests that they're great at attacking, but less competent at defending. We'll need to be sharp, and prepared to to put pressure on their defence.

Same team as last night (provided nobody is unfit). There will be goals. If we can match the 2-2 that Wealdstone achieved, that'll do nicely for me.

....when both of our deadly rivals would crash out of the FA Vase at the first attempt ? West Didsbury & Chorlton got through though, so congratulations to them, and also to Wythenshawe Town (who won 6-0 away).

However, the result that catches the eye has to be :

St.Martins 0 Hinckley 18

Perhaps Macc and Vics can take scant consolation that they only lost by the odd goal !

Altrincham FC First Team / Kings Lynn match thread

This lot are not the pushovers that many think they will be, and we're going to have to shuffle the pack with Connor Kirby out for the foreseeable future, Tom Hannigan possibly not in perfect health, Kosylo attracting the attention of the officials again, and, unfortunately, Dinanga seemingly unable to direct his banjo anywhere near any part of the cow. Until we know who is unfit it's pointless to speculate on the lineup, but I'd go so far as to say that Pringle and Hancock have to enter calculations.

Dinanga is the difficult one. I'd be tempted to put him on the bench if we had anybody better....and I'm honestly not sure that Peers is. Leitch-Smith might be worth a start if he's recovered from his knock.

I noticed that the 9 year old coach that Dover used yesterday belonged to Airport Passenger Hub, who are based in Heald Green.

Surely "penniless" Dover didn't FLY up for the match ?

Whilst things need improving upon after Monday, we're certainly not at panic stations. I'd start the same XI (LB is the only argument really), but would hope that Furman can make the bench.

Altrincham FC First Team / Sam Fishburn

17 year old striker made his debut for Lancaster City in their 3-2  win at Witton Albion in midweek, and followed his two goals in that game with a hat trick at Grantham yesterday as the Dolly Blues ran riot 7-2.

Perhaps we should take a look - could be another decent youngster we could develop.

We won't be playing Macc this season. It's good to score 4 goals away from home - but not if you concede 6 !
