Just been listening to Colin Murray on the EFL show on Quest. It's quite apparent that the problems lie with the deal struck between the Hong Kong consortium who Dave Whelan sold to, and the shady outfit who then came in. What has gone on sounds fairly near to fraud.
2  General Category / Altrincham FC First Team / Re: Season Tickets on: Yesterday at 06:29:35 PM
From https://www.altrinchamfc.com/news

The following is a message to Altrincham FC season ticket holders from co-chairman Bill Waterson.
Thank you very much, first of all, for purchasing a season ticket for the 2019-2020 season, and thank you, also, for your patience, during the wait for definitive information from the Vanarama National League on how the season might conclude.
As you may have read in previous updates, other than an intent to restart in mid-September, there has been no concrete information so far regarding the structure, nature and timing of next season. And with the excitement of the play-offs to come, we are not even sure which division we will be playing in!
We had hoped to be able to offer all season ticket holders money off a renewal for the 2020-21 season and had hoped to be in a position to do that by now. But, with uncertainty continuing, we feel we have reached the stage where we cannot wait any longer before giving you all the option of a refund.
When you bought your season ticket, it was for all 21 home Vanarama National League matches, of which five mouth-watering fixtures against King's Lynn Town, Chester, Boston United, Gloucester City and Brackley Town remained when the campaign was ended early due to coronavirus nearly four months ago. This equates to 23.8% of the home programme still outstanding.
A like-for-like refund would therefore look like this:
Adult Season Ticket                  £56
Concession Season Ticket             £44
Junior Season Ticket                        £13
Child Season Ticket                          £6
Alternatively, if you were prepared to wait for the issue of 2020-21 season tickets, we would offer you a 25% reduction on the price. We cannot quantify how much this would be until the League confirms plans for next season, but it will be a similar (or slightly higher) amount to the refund value above.
If you require a refund now, or would prefer a discount for next season, please contact us here. If, on the other hand, you feel able to forego either a refund or discount, and would like to help the club in this way, we thank you for your kind gesture.
We look forward to welcoming you back to The J.Davidson Stadium at some point in the future.
Kind regards,
Bill Waterson,
Co-Chairman

Thanks Bill. I'll wait for next season and take the discount.
3  General Category / Altrincham FC First Team / Re: Altrincham v Chester - CONFIRMED (match thread) on: June 30, 2020, 01:54:26 PM
The board have recognised that we have one home game v Chester (subject to FA approval) and our other two potential playoff games would be away (unless Gateshead do the improbable)

I would be confident of Gateshead's ability to win away at Brackley and Boston, If we get past Chester and York, that would give us a home final.

Says he turned down a trial with a league club because he preferred the "security" of a contract at Telford.

One can well understand that he's had enough of trials....

They're obviously undertaking some meticulous planning of how to finance their bid. Perhaps they're planning a bank raid......

Sad news indeed. A genuine pro who always played his socks off. RIP

Where is Chris senior these days ?
Do we really have to go through this again, he is at Arsenal isnt he?
Darlington I think

Nope. He's a soft tissue therapist at Sheffield Wednesday since 2017. Keep up Wayno !

I'm very sorry to hear this.  Sending my condolences and heartfelt best wishes.

Let's hope the lads can give Ivan - and others we've tragically lost in recent times - a great send off.

I'm now the last survivor of a group of six of us who stood together on the popular side in the 90's. RIP Ivan, I'll think of you often, as I do the rest us.

I hear Chester's players have been promised a day trip to Rhyl.

I've always enjoyed my work visits to Stevenage although from the Wetherspoons you can watch the rats running around outside of an evening
Rats ? That brings us neatly back to Macclesfield. A business plan sounds like a novel idea. Of course, no matter what pie in the sky they serve up to the EFL, it'll bear no relation to how the club is really being run - ie into the ground.
11  General Category / Altrincham FC First Team / Re: Provisional Playoffs on: June 18, 2020, 10:46:00 AM
Playoff teams and National allegedly meeting tomorrow to decided who is and isn't taking part.

Needs four clubs to confirm. York us and two others.
Gateshead will probably be up for it, being full time.  It depends on Chester to a great extent.
12  General Category / Altrincham FC First Team / Re: Provisional Playoffs on: June 18, 2020, 01:02:15 AM
I've heard that Brackley only have 10 players registered now, so that would rule them out.

The lease on York Street expires at the end of the month, so Boston might be unable to fulfil home games.

Wow. I have no recolection of Boston being a league club. It must have been a bad time for the fans

Many young people in Wrexham have no idea they were a league club  Grin Grin

Even less in Barrow Mick, being an old fart, I do

I saw both Barrow and Workington play in 4th Division games at Edgeley Park circa 1960.

Does the conference national have to accept them?

Conference system does - be very funny if we bypassed them via playoffs.
Is that correct - I'm sure that when Boston dropped out of L2 they by-passed the conference and went to the Evostick?
They bypassed National and dropped to North.
15  General Category / Altrincham FC First Team / Re: Playoffs back on???? on: June 16, 2020, 11:52:21 PM

Sounds like Chester donít overly fancy it. We should be looking to poach some of their players for next season. Now Murphy and his cash have gone they actually have to run a sustainable football club, which hasnít gone well for them in the recent past.

Have they actually got anybody worth poaching ? They didn't look particularly good when we played them, and I can't think of a single player who would improve our squad perceptibly.
