Altrincham FC First Team / All in our hands
« on: February 23, 2007, 07:09:59 PM »
Bit of a basic thread really but just to say that I'm bored of staring at page 329 4/4 of Ceefax, there are loads of dogfights coming up, St.Albans are at home to Stafford 2mo and away at Grays on Tuesday and teams will win some and lose some (thread inspired by realising that watching soccer saturday tomorrow can only bring bad news). The fact is it will all even itself out in the end and 50 points will be needed, just look at previous years Nationwide League tables. Just need to be confident, be positive, throw the kitchen sink at a couple of teams and grab a win or two including an away one, it'll soon clear up. Unlike 1997 and 2000 I'm still happy with our attacking options, I know Col is going to get a few soon (and Joe) and when we;re throwing subs on well I'm quite happy that Senior, Thornley, McFadden andThomson can all have impacts (in 97 we were throwing on Ian Horrigan and in 2000 Mick Morrell). We're in a far bette rposition and we'll be fine.

A bit annoyed at stafford and southport away as well as Woking at home but we'll still be right. (I think ;))

Why do they make no decision and then as soon as the ref does suddenly put their flag up as if they did?

Altrincham FC First Team / Administration Crawley..
« on: February 15, 2007, 08:48:08 PM »
... ::) from the main site about another crawley signing elliot benyon.

Benyon said: 'St Albans tried to keep me but it was complicated with the financial side'...

....how exactly can it be more complicated financially st St Albans, is it a bit tricky filling in the forms because they bother to pay the tax man etc?

Or could Albans not afford you, glad to see another person owed money by crawley is getting shafted to finance your signing them!

The conference really dont want to throw anyone out this year but they will............ ::)

Non Altrincham FC Talk / BOATS - ADVICE NEEDED
« on: February 08, 2007, 05:59:14 PM »
Re msg in the alty section, does anyone have any idea about boats. The thing is I have an old wooden boat which I am looking to sell, probably via ebay or ebid. Now its fairly old but it seems in good condition. Good as in it hasn't got any holes in it etc and comes with various bits and pieces. I reckon its sailable or rowable rather but I don't know much more about boats than that.

If you think you can offer any help please PM me. Thanks.

Also, this would require registering with ebay so if anyone thinks they hjave relevant advice for me please PM again.

Cheers Ballers

« on: February 08, 2007, 05:55:17 PM »
...who know anything at all about boats? i.e. the condition that wooden ones need to be in?

Does anyone know their way around ebay or ebid as well, i know a few of you do? Please go and see msg in non alty section.

I think we should go all out attack from the start on saturday if we are to get 3 points. Als can any experts explain to me how Hyde United can offer someone (Seddon) a 3 year contract??? :o

Altrincham FC First Team / Ex Bury winger dies
« on: January 22, 2007, 05:05:51 PM »
Not necessarily news in itself but apparently he used to play for us in years gone by. Anyone know anything?#

Ex-Bury and U's winger has died
Winger Bobby Dale, who played for Bury and Colchester United in the 1950s, has died at the age of 75.
The Shakers website reports that he passed away last week after suffering with cancer for a long time.

Born in Irlam, Dale joined Bury from non-League Altrincham in 1951, and scored two goals in 15 appearances before moving to Colchester in 1953.

He then made 128 appearances for the U's before his football career was ended by tuberculosis in 1958.

Altrincham FC First Team / Fao Rod Thornley re David Beckham
« on: January 16, 2007, 11:36:36 PM »
I see your mate is going to be without a game for the rest of this season and he wouldn't want to turn up to MLS unfit and lacking match practice would he?

Tell him to come and join us on loan (International clearance permitting ::), he can wander about on Dennis's flank and be a class above. It's close to his old home, your his mate and he's been here before.

Also, it would have the added bonus of making him totally look a man of the people/family values etc which would endear him more 'i alwas enjoyed coming down to Alty, the people were really friendly to me when I filmed an adidas advert, Rods a great mate This is a good oppo to keep me ticking over and I hope it helps a small club to attract a few more fans. I've always thought the grass roots is important to football, that's why I've set up my soccer schools etc'

Playing in England a little bit may even help him get his England place back  ;)

I think Robbie is better in the centre than on the right  :)incidentally

Altrincham FC First Team / Barnet video
« on: January 15, 2007, 11:29:28 PM »
This was meant to be a private message but sod it, I haven't got a Barnet video and it's eaten away at me for 15 years, I've only ever seen the video once (when me and Alex wathced it at your gaff Ecky) and I want the bastard thing on dvd!!!! :o :o

Also, if we got the Barnet game copied up onto dvd we'd shift a thousand I tell you! I'd have two and Alec and Fletch want one, I'm sure all the video owners would want a dvd copy,

so Grahame if you'll allow me (p.s everyone if this breaches any copyright laws you ain't seen this right!) ;)

If anyone has a copy of the Barnet game or the Wembley finals I'd gladly get them copied to DVD - let me know.

Also if there are any other videos around can do the same.

Thanks for the ideas

Grahame

From their official site

Tamworth will play host to Altrincham on Tuesday 19th December 2006 in a FA Trophy replay at The Lamb, Tamworth. Vouchers for the FA Cup fixture will be issused at this fixture.

---

Basically for their next 2 home games, they are giving vouchers out for priority in buying Norwich tickets, i.e. If you go to both you're 1st in line and if you go to 1 then you're next in line after that.

Hopefully this will encourage the locals to turn up and bosst the attendance somewhat as we get halfthe gate receipts.

Otherwise there will be 600 there with Tamworth giving the gate as 463. >:(

Actually hopefully the glory hunting locals won't turn up as I expect they'll be mongs par excellence, surpassing even todays clowns ::)

Altrincham FC First Team / Boston
« on: December 06, 2006, 11:59:22 PM »
from alty official site.

The Daily Telegraph reports that former Alty defender Paul Ellender's club, Boston United "could face extinction after the club's plans to move to a new ground were thrown out. The League Two side wanted to leave their York Street home and build a 7,500 seat-stadium to help pay off debts of £1.1 million. But Boston Borough Council rejected the scheme and the club face being wound-up by the Inland Revenue. Boston's home game against Wrexham on Saturday could now be their last match".

Now I know that the Inalnd Rev have been very patient with the Majeeds at Crawley but I can't help feeling Boston may have burnt their bridges (and blown up the orphanage!) with them!!

Altrincham FC First Team / Worth Accys while to sell Craney?
« on: November 23, 2006, 11:40:34 PM »
Like most others on here I suspect that Accy will try to sticth us up on the Craney deal, Eric Whalley is not a nice man to be trusted. I think they would love to have (any) Swansea player in a swap deal and say he is the main part of the deal.

Anyway, the point being is that I think it's worth their while to take the offer, they're all going on about how they won't let him go without a fight to a team only in the league above etc but realistically, we got Craney for now he was class for us and got us in the conf north, he then went to a full time career  (admittedly at a tinpot palace) and we got £15k and a 50% sell on clause. We wanted more but trying to hold onto him for an extra 10k wouldn't have been mega. We had our piece of him and the £15k chipped of a little bit of debt and enabled us to strenthen with Hussin, Potts, Owen, Little the rest is history.

Craneys 23 i think now, accy could fight tooth and nail to hold him back but what would that achieve, yes he may get them into the top half of lge2 (a big incentive admittedly) but his value would decrease as they go on. Fact is he's at a higher level than l2 as is Roberts. If they seel him now for 150k tehy should take the 75k, give us ours  thru gritted teeth and get teh sell on clause in. If craney is a success at Swansea (which he would be) he could go to Leeds for £500k or Forest or something and they'd coin it in anyway.

Also, given the luck they had with the Ormerod deal I think they know this and it will go through.

Altrincham FC First Team / Dear Dave Pace...
« on: October 29, 2006, 05:41:49 PM »
On a slightly lighter note (Ecky)

Dear Dave,

We told you the conference was a bloody tough league, even the poor teams are clinical, you can't just throw money at strikers. It will require tactical nous. Assuming you don't balls up the playoffs....again.

Regards

Alty

Any more advice for Mr Pace regarding the conference anyone....

p.s. All this said, I really did think they might get a result at a complacent Kidderminster yesterday. I don't actually think Droylsden are that bad a side but I did gggle at them being 4 down at ht. :o
