Altrincham FC First Team / Re: Alty Away Dayz Next Season...

Maidenhead - a historic ground before they knock it down.

Thought that about Drill Field though! 😉 😂😂

Drill Field was a dump, but I bloody miss going there. Memories of hundreds of Alty fans filling that bus station end, so dark it was like a dungeon at the back of that. Hey ho, these new stadiums have far better bogs!

Thanks for sorting on what I've just realised is a massive day for Altrincham FC.

Excellent news. We have a young forward thinking management team who can take this team forward along with a great mix of board members.
Onwards and Upwards.

Word for word agreement.

Non Altrincham FC Talk / Re: Rabbits at Easter
« on: April 06, 2021, 06:55:45 PM »
I'm puzzled about the connection  between Easter and rabbits. I don't remember anything from my 60s /70s childhood involving rabbits and easter.  When did this all start at n the uk, why?

I had assumed it was because rabbits are a symbol of new life, because they are, how can I put it, good at producing new life.

According to wikipedia, though, it was a German Lutheran tradition that the Easter Hare would judge children before Easter.  I am not sure when I first heard of the connection with rabbits or hares at this time of year, but it was interesting to look into the question!

Righty, thanks very much. Appreciated.

As for needing tests to work; some of us have been working since the start of this  with management working on the principle that, if we have symptoms, then we will get ourselves tested.

Unfortunately a suprisingly low percentage of people with symptoms bother to have a test.

I have been having symptom free testing twice weekly for months, do it at home now. Two minutes of action, half an hour for a cuppa tea afterwards. Fnarr fnarr.

Apropos of testy vents, in county cricket there will be possibly only even just one county able to hold test events as they want to study a selection of sports or levels, so there may be just one National league test event.

Hopefully the data gathered at last year's attended county games can be used too. I have mates with very high hopes of getting to the test match this summer. I'm fairly confident but no more than 20%-25% capacity.

I was listening to the commentary of Notts CCC and they are hoping for full attendance for games later in the season. The test v India is almost sold out, but I don't think it is for their full capacity.

My friends hope to get to Headingley. I love my county cricket, I can't see how a few hundred rattling round Old Trafford can be beyond us.

Would have been a cracking weekend for a trip to King's Lynn. It really is a very pleasant town with a lot of history (and  a very good history trail). We were there a couple of summers ago and we walked through the big park and afterwards I said to Mrs Hale Alty "I think the football ground is near here", and she said, "We've just walked past it". Goodness know where I was looking.

Missing out on meeting a mate who lives localish. He owes me a pint, it'll wait.

Yes very bizarre all these new stewards

Actually, it was us who were due to play Macclesfield on 22nd May, while Yeovil were down to play Dover, but the same principle applies.

As I have discussed offline, although it might seem unfair  to some that we get two home games with fans allowed at the end of the season, other clubs have already have fans present mid-season, so I see no reason why we can't, as it is after the government's step when fans are allowed at elite matches.
just buy a high vis jacket and become a steward and watch every game
Do you need more stewards for a game behind closed doors or less? Just asking.

All those doors to keep closed. Terrible sorry so I think more.

Alty Unitarians have a service at 11:30 today but they'd need to get a move on. Perhaps one of the four services today at St. Vincent's RC would be a better option.

Hope that helps.

Any club complaining about fans being at a game would be making a PR error.

Two nil Alty win.

Should we have played Crewe in an FA Cup tie on Sky ? only for it to be postponed because Neil Lennon was on international duty ?

Maybe my medication is wearing off, maybe ?

I am pretty sure I remember that game in 1995 being postponed because of international callups, although I am unsure if it was originally scheduled for TV or not.

It was scheduled for tv, it was called off due to Neil Lennon being on international duty.
