Good point today as I didn't think we would get anything as we were poor .

The "organization" at the turnstiles was woewful.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I was told the away turnstiles were closed ??

Tempers were frayed at 310pm when the game has started with a 10 minute wait to get in . Joke

A gentleman came up to me in the queue and told me he had offered to man the turnstiles at 2pm and was refused

Offering a incentive to floating fans to show up with no organization . So Alty

Wayno, you know as a loyal fan, Turnstiles are open next to the stand at one thirty, if not before.
The away fans found them no problem in getting in.
As one price to get in the ground, anybody can use them.
Get there early,  or use the stand turnstiles. Simple.
As Mrs Warbouys says, get an e-ticket , job done.

if you are suggesting fans should arrive early because we can't cope well with a 1,300 odd crowd then that's totally sending the wrong signals; taking the regulars for granted and a poor experience for the floaters and first timers who we want to come back.

I think there was around 150 there. It was a good evening. Hopefully, JJ has been exorcised and we can move on. I think there was a statement made that the vision will go online shortly. Only the community hall and the sponsors lounge is going to survive, a roof to go on all four sides of the ground.

To be honest, I look at other clubs grounds and think we are stuck in the 1960's so these plans are going to address all of that. Just about the only thing that wasn't on the agenda was turning the pitch through 90 degrees.

Given how thorough that presentation was, I'd be amazed if they hadn't looked at rotating the pitch during their research. In any case I don't think it would be practical or certainly cost effective.

I have previously got the understanding Jordan didn't like how he was treated by Titch and Quackers at Salford so was unlikely to be feeling warm and fuzzy about going back to them.

According to a couple of posters on the Chester forum, Jordan works with Morley so I wouldn’t be so sure this is the case. Oh and by the way, was anything said about the position of Chairman?

Announcement on new chairman very soon

It was telling how there was almost zero input from the current chairman tonight, apart from answering one question where he stayed rooted to his seat with his back to the audience.

I thought it was an excellent meeting, very well presented and delivered and while there is clearly a very ambitious vision in place, it was balanced by a lot of realism and understanding of what needs to be done to make it happen.

The family stand is good for elderly supporters or those with mobility issues as it's easier to sit down there rather than trying to get up the main stand steps.

Agreed, it's probably the most comfortable part of the ground for unobstructed views and legroom. Giving it all over to away fans is self defeating in my view. And the sponsors lounge is a very undervalued asset in my view also.
5  General Category / Altrincham FC First Team / Re: FA Cup Draw on: November 12, 2019, 07:39:36 PM
When are the TV games announced?

I wouldn’t have thought before all the replays are done with which would be a week on Wednesday. There was a large number of draws in R1, something like 15 replays to take place including the likes of Bromley, Wrexham & Sunderland, all of whom would have a fair chance of being on the TV. I would still proceed if trying to do some planning on the basis that we will probably play at 1245 on the Sunday.

Agreed  they will probably do one all league game and the rest non league v league ,4 games on tv i think. If  Bromley and Ipswich win their replays they will probably be on  in my opinion as will Maldo n and Solihull

I reckon they may choose Bromley/Bristol Rovers regardless because you'll have either non league hosting league or a west country derby given Plymouth are the opponents.

FA rules state you'd need to set off before 8am to get to the ground 90 minutes before kick off, allowing a 45 minute stop along the way.

So whether we play Saturday at 3 or Sunday at 12.45 could be a factor.
7  General Category / Altrincham FC First Team / Re: Altrincham FC announcement - Grahame Rowley to step down as Chairman on: November 08, 2019, 09:54:01 PM
Made some wrong choices but has a huge Alty heart and has helped put us back on a decent platform. He came into the job blind and learnt from errors. What other club at this level do you see the Chairman collect glasses, work behind the bar each game, groundwork etc? All the best. Now I would like to see some old faces return next season.......

And many would argue that as chairman he should have been networking, meeting sponsors and potential new directors instead of serving behind the bar and selling golden goals. Some dreadful errors were made during his chairmanship, the scars of which remain.

On the flip side I don't think anyone can doubt that he did what he did as a genuine fan, putting a huge amount of work in. The success of the community stuff and financial stability under his reign should not be understated either.

In my view Noel White should have one of our stands or terraces named after him. The man was a phenomenal chairman and being invited to join the board at Liverpool off the back of what he did at Alty speaks volumes. RIP Mr White.

I agree with the need to replace parts of the stands which are in need  of repair. Would it be worth exploring the possibility of seeking a grant from the likes of the FA  and the like for such projects?

Interesting link below. As a Conference North club you can get up to £250k over 5 years but they'll only cover up to 70% of the project.

Happy to stand corrected but it looks like we got £115k for the CSH, £20k for the pitch and maybe similar for the fence. Not sure how that all fits into the rolling 5 years total and the fact we have been in 3 different divisions.

The Noel White Suite feels, to me at least, like it is vastly under utilised and the conversion of that space into a fan bar on a membership-basis would create an environment for fans like Dec (of which there are plenty) to generate the atmosphere that would see them drink at the club pre and post game.

Totally agree, I also reckon the sponsors lounge is well off it's full potential as an asset. Facilities like that are rare at this level.

A modernised, more exclusive sponsors lounge and revamped Noel White Suite membership package is worth considering in my view. Both would compliment the CSH well. Three different facilities for different clientele is a good mix.

Agree with above but a long term investor(s) might not happen anytime soon so let's make the difference now.

The club will welcome and snap the hands of the right people. I ain't going to mention who said it to me but I was told that Alty would need a starting platform of 5 million to go full time and compete.

Is that realistic.......? I very much doubt it, unless we are very lucky. Would they even be the right sort of people.

We are making the right steps and if people give that little bit more than maybe we can go the next step and attract the right investment.

I guarantee we wouldn't need 5 million to go full time and compete.

I don't think 15 out of 24 clubs in the league above have 5 million (putting us midtable and maybe able to put a run together.

30 salaried employees at 50k  and a 1 million for other costs would put us half of that.

Agreed, I'd like to see where the £5m figure comes from. There are league clubs running at £2-3m a year upwards.

In any case, we have a manager who clearly wants us to look at full time and going full time will probably mean us changing our current culture and ownership structure to fund it. Patrons schemes, golden goals, extra pints in the hall are all great (and fair play to everyone who does that) but a drop in the ocean in that regard.
12  General Category / Altrincham FC First Team / Re: Squad 2019/2920 on: June 04, 2019, 09:58:10 AM
In years gone by we have had no players signed on and used pre season to scrap around to get a starting 11.

We are well ahead of where we have been under previous managers i could name.

On the basis that we have signed almost a full squad already, i dont expect PP to be sat back waiting for a final few signings. He will be well on with it. Negotiating terms and competing against other clubs for the same players. Those same players will be holding out for the best options. Nothing to panic about in my eyes.

Spot on, the new season is two months away. Furthermore if we are actively looking for new players then it isn't going to be done in the public domain and quite rightly so. Let's have a bit of patience and faith in the management.
13  General Category / Altrincham FC First Team / Re: PP Interview on: May 30, 2019, 05:20:15 PM
Really enjoyed that, in-depth & detailed look at what makes PP tick as a boss.

One thing I took out of it was his belief that for the club to truly progress we need to go full time and that was a motivating factor in signing his 3 year contract. He’s right of course but how we go about doing that I’ll be interested to see.

Agreed. One thing I interpreted from it was that we can't go full time under our current business model. Time will tell as to what changes.

Was interesting also to read his thoughts on how our media approach has changed.

Great to see such progressive, ambitious words coming from our manager, but with a healthy dose of pragmatism and common sense too.

We were drawn away against "Bye or Tottenham Hotspur" and once Tottenham were confirmed as being allowed to participate we duly played them at White Hart Lane.

I remember Sir Bert Millichip raising an eyebrow when that tie was pulled out of the hat!  Cheesy

Out of interest, why "bye", what was the problem with Tottenham's participation ?

Assume a bye would have meant free passage to the next round for Alty

First main paragraph will explain it. I think the appeal was ongoing between the draw and the match

Purely from a financial point of view I'd have preferred Warrington. Anyway it's not to be as Kings Lynn have held on...
