Astonishingly, John Laidlar has now published the article in full on the Club's official website. Rowley is dragging this Club into oblivion.

To compare Nigel Clough to Matt Doughty is one of the most ridiculous comments I've heard, up there with your suggestion of GH joining the Board.

So you're presumably happy with how the club is being run then?

I want to say how impressed I have been with the work behind the scenes on a fantastic PR campaign. The Board should listen to the concerns and bring these guys into the fold, which would give the club a great platform for the future.

Whatever you're view you can't deny the effort.

Everyone needs to remember the Club is bigger than Grahame Rowley.

Altrincham FC First Team / Re: Matt Doughty Q and A
« on: March 14, 2017, 06:34:58 PM »

I confess to being a little surprised that neither Matt Doughty nor Robbie Lawton appear to be taking the opportunity to head over to Bower Fold tonight in order to watch Stalybridge Celtic versus Bradford PA, particularly as we are scheduled to play both of those clubs in two of our next three league fixtures.

That would just seem to constitute a potentially more profitable evening than conducting this somewhat immaterial forum.

Isn't it obvious? He's only interested in securing his own position, there's no other reason for a pointless Q and A. You could also argue that he should be prioritising spending time with the players.

Matt Doughty appears in 3 out of the last 5 management teams, coincidence? Surely the end is coming?

I think this is completely out of order and totally unprofessionally by Matt Doughty. Its clear he is trying to force the Board's hand and I'm surprised Rowley has allowed this to go ahead. If he is being given the job then its an unmitigated disaster which will do nothing to bring the fans and club together and if he isn't, then he's out of a job in 6 weeks so why do we need to know his views.

Either the way the ball is firmly in the Board's court to front up and tell us what's going on. I wasn't planning on walking out next week but I am now considering it. If Doughty gets the job though I'm finished with the Club anyway.

Bizarre - what option did they have.

"Board refuse to let manager talk to fans"  how much stick would they have got for that?  Fans generally calling for more info and contact and building bridges between those that run the club and the fans and then moan when they set up a opportunity to talk.  Utterly unbelievable the things people will take offence at on here

I'm all for greater communication, but question Doughty's motives. I don't think it will build bridges, but put more pressure on the Board. Not sure how we would have found out , if "Board refuse to let manager talk to fans" its quite reasonable for the Board to say this isn't the right time.

What a year its been since......?

I agree, on Sunday it looked like a new manager might be on the cards, but tonight maybe not. If Matt Doughty is in charge come August I'll be finding something else to do on a Saturday afternoon.

I wouldnt hold your breath, Rowley won't change - he's got no reason to. He needs to go for any change to occur

I think the Supporter owned model has positives and negatives but don't think it could work in smaller clubs such as ours.

Exactly, it looks deliberate.

Doesn't change a thing for me either. All that's happened is Bill has replaced Andrew Shaw. Doughty is still manager and Rowley is still Chairman, it'll take more than a few soundbites from Bill to sort this mess out.

Good luck to Bill, bit he's got a big job on his hands. Getting a proper manager in and persuading the Chairman to step down would be one way of building bridges with the fans.
