I see Stalyvegas are really ripping up trees since they taught us a lesson over the festive period....

With Nuneaton flying high getting all excited I remember how we cut them down last time around.

Q - Who did Kettering beat in their semi to meet us?

Altrincham FC First Team / Our Finest Hour (and a half)?
« on: December 12, 2011, 11:56:46 AM »
I had the pleasure of being in the Jasper Carrott Suite at Birmingham City FC on Thursday morning.

I thought to myself that this was our greatest ever win.

We were the last to win away at a top flight side and I cannot see it ever happening again. Especially as the majority of BSP teams are now full time, you have to be plucky plumbers for it to count.

Agree?

.....for Bath and Newport.

I wonder if anyone has actually done any stats on it?

Along with Promo to League 2 = another one to League 1 followed by a relegation to L2 straight away!

Altrincham FC First Team / Neil Morton

Was supping with a good friend of Neil Morton, had played in the same team at Wigan.

I have to say there were some choice words about Graham Barrow!

"I grabbed a latte in the Departure Lounge, and reflected on the difference between an airport and a station. When you arrive at Manchester Piccadilly, you have arrived in Manchester. A station is somewhere.

But an airport is an in-between place, neither here nor there. When you arrive at Manchester Airport, you have in fact been dumped in the middle of the Cheshire countryside. It is as genuinely Mancunian as Man U, forced into the outskirts by the respectable citizens who support their local, who are called Manchester City.

An airport, like Man U, belongs to nobody and nowhere. A station belongs; it has identity. Airports are part of a soggy, lowest common denominator world culture, like Man U, Oirish pubs or Starbucks.

Apologies to the residents of Trafford here, incidentally, though if I were you, I'd support Altrincham"

Altrincham FC First Team / Ground Amnesty
« on: June 02, 2010, 05:58:34 PM »
After reading the post on the fixtures we are all looking forward to next season I thought I would help us all dust down our skeletons whilst we are out of season.

I want to hear of the grounds you are embarrassed to say you have never seen the Alty at.

I will start with a couple of corkers.....

28 years of support; never been to:

Chesterfield just took part in the "crossbar Challenge" shooting towards the Alty end where we all squinted to see Keithy "Biggest ever signing" Russell haul us back in to the Unibond Cup final!

It was the also the end that Bernard passed the Trophy over to me to hold whilst I gave my match report to my brother in Edinburgh on the old mobile.

"Did we win?"

"I'm holding the trophy now"
