Being relatively young during the late 90s and early 2000s, whenever I hear Tubthumping by Chumbawumba, I always think of Alty.

I'm sure lots of people saw PP's tweet and like me decided not to make a big thing of it and just see what happened....I hope PP appreciates the respect his privacy was given on this matter and perhaps be a little more discrete in future.....alls well that ends well but Phil has won nothing yet...or ever.....and winning this league with alty will not be non league's biggest achievement.....I hope he really proves his worth, commits to alty until we are consolidated conference national...then he will certainly get a more worthwhile full time career move as opposed to a cartoon move to alfreton???...and he will go with best wishes and thanks ringing in his ears.....

It is not just our position in the non league pyramid that maintains a Rowley out attitude...although the fact we have to go to some of these places week in week out has never been taken accountability for.......it is things like the way people find out about staff vs supporters, stewards being sacked, fans being blamed and accused in national media and a general disgraceful air of almost contempt for certain Alty fans (normally those who put themselves forward to push the club forward) that maintains the toxic atmosphere.

Once we gain promotion the Rowley out campaign will I'm sure become more vocal.....Until then I do urge fans to come and enjoy the football and support the manager and the players....I have found this is possible to do whilst demanding change of leadership is made.

If PP is considering his position, do you feel this 'toxic atmosphere' would enter his thinking? He has come in, got Alty 10 points clear in the league, yet there is still massive animosity between the fans and the club. His boss is being slated continually (perhaps warranted in some people's eyes) as well as the rest of the board which, in any job, would make you feel uneasy in your position.

I'm sure he's not forgotten that his head was being called for, albeit by a significant minority, after five minutes in the job. There has recently been suggestions on here that he threw a cup game and the club had a game called off on purpose. If he does read this forum, which he shouldn't but it's probably difficult to ignore, how do you think this 'toxic atmosphere' makes him feel in his job?

Ludicrous suggestion. About 12 people post on this forum, as if the manager would take a few post on a fans forum to heart. Get back in the roebuck my friend.

He does read the forum. He said so himself.

While I understand your points, Bob. my message was to try and reunite the fans and I agree that the club should also reach out. Now is actually the ideal time for both factions to come together whilst the club is on the up but both factions need to do whatever is best for the ongoing strength of the club. the board have already admitted they have made mistakes in the past but I am sure lessons have been learnt by everybody.

It is all for the good of OUR club, but some fans must also be open-minded and  allow repairs to be made before they are lost forever or the club starts to destabalize.  Time to let it go now and be reunited and do whatever it takes to repair damage done from both sides. I would suggest another meeting between fans and board. It's time also they and possibly the management got together again. The Rowley out campaign is damaging to the club and destablises it for all of us. Credit where credit is due now that things are looking up again and lets not lose sight of this.

I'm sorry, but that logic just doesn't work. I think that everyone is pleased with the way the team is playing at the moment, but we shouldn't have been here in the first place and I do not believe that there has been anything like the accountability there should have been or indeed any true form of apology from the clique that runs our club.

If we all follow your logic, then all Americans should be praising Donald Trump, forget the character of the man because the 'on the pitch' indicators say he's doing a great job for America. Unemployment is falling and is almost at a record low, US stocks have had a record run and the American economy is growing. It's not all about the current 'on the pitch' factors though is it? The character of the man is such that stability is more luck than judgement. No accountability, no ability to admit mistakes, fake news (NLP anyone), keeping 'yes' men around you lest your judgement be questioned and get rid of those who you feel undermine your authority.

I don't think there is anyone who is not behind the team and PP, but that does not equate to thinking everything at boardroom level is rosy, nor should it.

Another excellent post
lots of good points in this post

There was not even a staff supporters game last year . To kid ourselves everything is now ok is very niave

I agree with Bob/Snork Maiden and Uncle G.

As a point on Wayneís post, there wonít be one this year either. Again, shows the board donít want one and arenít interested in helping relations with the fans.

Recalled from Lincoln and sent back out to Tranmere - not sure why as I thought he was a key player for Lincoln (unless Tranmere have enquired and offered to pay a higher percentage, who knows).

Scored on his debut for Tranmere yesterday.

Ironically he's replaced Dylan Mottley-Henry at Tranmere, who was recalled by Barnsley and made his debut in the Championship yesterday.

To this day I still wonder why we didn't play them both on each side to stretch games back in the Conference.

Because when they were both here we didnít have a football manager in charge. Sinnott had lost his head and then the board just gave the job to their mate instead of going sh*t or bust to stay up.

Aren't we usually complaining games are called off too early? Maybe Stourbridge had been doing everything they could to get the game on.

Apparently they didnít. Thatís from somebody who went.

Can I offer a different viewpoint?

I think it shows how far we have mended as fans, in addition to the team, after the heartache of the last couple of years - that we can start being pragmatic about things again.

Not one person would have been happy to exit the Trophy - it still means so much to all of us. Warrington are a decent outfit, capable of beating us on their day. And yes, we're great (at this level) but not infallible.

Thankfully when some of our fans were getting on PP's back after the indifferent start to the season, he was mature enough to realise what we'd all been through (as was noted at the time).

I disagree. He showed a distinct lack of understanding of our plight. Obviously he has only heard the boards views, and his recent comments show he still doesnít understand the fans gripe with those that run the club.

Look, I doubt PP was happy we went out. And i'm pretty sure he understands why fans are fed up. All in all who gives a toss as long as he gets us up? We went out of the trophy to a fellow promotion contender on a replay. Its hardly the end of the world is it.

PP could call us all a bunch of halfwits for all I care as long as he ha us ten points clear in April and the players enjoying playing in front of the halfwit fans.

The board are disgrace and no doubt they influence his thinking they pay his wages and we all have to tow the line with our employers from time to time. Dont let it muddy the waters of the good job he is currently doing with the rest of the management team.

His real test comes in March and April when he has to get this promotion over the line.

I think you misunderstand my point. I have nothing against PP, I just donít think he understands the situation.

Agreed that his job is his job and weíll all be happy if he gets us promoted, expected or not.

The players and management will have wanted to progress in the Trophy. Look at the strength of the sides we've put out for the Cheshire Cup and tell me we don't give all competitions a go. We sat back far too much in the last 20 of that game and paid the price.

I'm gutted we're out of the Trophy and I'm not entirely sure I buy into the mindset of it being a 'good thing.' I think its funny how awful of a journey Ebbsfleet became to some once we were knocked out and didn't have to do it. Its easy to say that from this side of the fence. Warrington have proven it was a winnable draw and they've been rewarded with another winnable game at Wealdstone, in a last sixteen that looks quite beatable overall in my opinion.

I understand that the league is our fundamental priority, but who are we as fans of Altrincham FC to not be bothered about progression in any competition? We've won f**k all in forever and I was surprised by the lack of disappointment after the exit. Another year goes by.

Absolutely spot on.

Whilst i agree with some of the sentiment on here, it cannot be a lack of vision that stops potential investors.  Any self respecting investor will have their own vision, thats what they are buying a club for, they shouldnt need one put on a plate for them prior to investing.

They canít have a vision if they arenít aware that the club is for sale.

And to Marine who have an even longer trip to Dover.

And to Macclesfield who.....oh, I forgot they were knocked out by Halifax on Tuesday night  Wink

Iíd much rather be in Maccs position than ours.

Social media and related developments are absolutely first class. If only some of this imagination and outside the box thinking could be displayed in other areas of the club...

Unfortunately, ideas from the social media team are not always acted on by certain board members because they see part of that team as an interference and they would rather cut off their noses to spite their face.

The support from Bill Waterson has been unwavering, and he deserves a lot of the credit for managing to get the ideas past board level.
13  General Category / Altrincham FC First Team / Re: Share update on: January 11, 2018, 02:20:25 PM
I think the points that Matt makes are both pertinent and poignant.

The entire share selling has lacked any kind of input from the board or Dom McGuinness.

The process has not been supported or pushed in any way and the ďlaissez-faireĒ approach by the board is distinctly disrespectful, disturbing and shows that they do not want to change.

There was a football business convention in manchester not long after the plan to sell shares was announced, yet absolutely nothing was done to put together a package to show what was available and no representatives were sent to put forward this club.

The board have failed to keep us updated with what they are proactively doing, which gives the impression that they are sitting on their hands and are happy that the support is split and they are happy with the direction the club is going.

The lack of leadership at the top of the club shows complete disdain for those ďbelowĒ them, and that is not acceptable.

Dom McGuinness needs to step forward and tell us what he has done to sell the club, why there has been no public announcements surrounding these shares being available, why somebody who has such good contacts has not used these in any way and why we have not heard anything from him in 6 months. In short, he needs to justify why we are utilising his expertise.

As things stand, the minimal credibility that the board still has is diminishing, and itís only a matter of time before things all come to a head again.

Should we really be relying on Shaw Lane losing players to win this pub league?!

Yes of course we should. Every little helps.

Nonsense. Itís the attitude of relying on others that felled us from Conference level. And then then Conference North. And it wonít get us promoted. Yes, every little helps, but if our squad isnít good enough now then we shouldnít turn out a side every Saturday.
