I think what the last month has shown us is the standard required. We more than matched Chorley & Spenny for the first half of both games but ultimately ended up losing both comfortably. I did think before the season started wed be an upper mid-table outfit and whilst we might scrape the play offs Id be very surprised if we won them.

Frankly after all the ups and downs of the last few seasons starting August as a Conference North club is probably good for the management, squad and club. A summer to make the right tweaks and additons fo the squad. I think it will probably be a fairly open league again next season.

Realistic assessment.
Good post.

Aye, good post. Agreed.

I agree with a lot of what he said, but if he thinks Johnson was a threat all evening one of us needs glasses.

And being the better side in the first half...

We were.

We haven't been at it for a while now but still, we find ourselves in a good position to sneak the play-offs which we'd all have taken in our first season back here. Of course it's all down to our good run earlier in the season and I just hope we can re-find that form in time to keep pace with the sides around us, plenty of whom we've shown we can outplay.

Huge turnout at Curzon Ashton is required. Stick behind the lads. As a fan base we have a tendency to enjoy the spoils of the good runs and then go full-on Doomsday when we hit a slump, or perhaps that's just football fans in general. We know we're better than our form over the last few weeks, with or without a player of Dale or Hemmings' quality, so I'm still confident we have enough to up our game once again.

Tuesday night will set the tone for the rest of the season. Nervous for it.

Nothing to hide Andrew.

You might not, I'm thinking more about the club to be honest Ian. Are they okay with the number of shirt sales going out into the public domain so freely?

Besides, is it something to be boasting about? Makes us look like our incentive was to flog replicas and ride this wave to a quick buck.

It's a horrible kit

Sold in excess of 200 shirts in a week all over the world, I should know, Ive posted most of them!!

Isn't that sensitive information?

Still fuming with their centre half, me.

It's a horrible kit and no amount of coverage is going to win me and others over to it, unfortunately. I still firmly believe the same reach could have been achieved with a more considered design and a thought out launch. Got to mention this quote from Bill in today's Telegraph:

"Its not the most aesthetically pleasing of kits but thats not the point - Were not making a fashion statement, were making a statement of belief. A subtle acceptance spun into a really positive statement about what we're doing. Good work indeed.

From Twitter:

(1/2) Due to the incident from Saturdays game Im devastated to find out Ive torn my MCL and ACL which will rule me out for the rest of the season 😔 Im determined to keep positive and thank you for the messages Ive had already 🙌 (2/2) A massive thank you to the fans, players and staff of @altrinchamfc for the past couple of weeks I enjoyed being part of your club, although my time there has been cut short. I wish you the very best of luck in your push for promotion that you deserve 🙌

I'll raise you the above and an extra goal, with a Johnston penalty adding the third.
12  General Category / Altrincham FC First Team / Re: BEN HARRISON on: February 13, 2019, 10:42:53 AM
Gutted for him. Played really well  for the 40 mins he was on. Speedy recovery
I don't think "speedy" is as important as "complete". I'd happily wait till next season if I knew Ben was 100% fit.

I think "Speedy Recovery" covers both Speedy and complete. Good lord.

Er....no ! We've had too many "speedy" recoveries over the last few seasons, with players coming back before they're FULLY fit. Two words : James Poole.

I find it hard to believe robininstockport was calling for Ben to be rushed back, to be honest.

Is BPA not our next game on Saturday?

Yep!

The goals and Drench's first half save are here without adverts at the bottom of page 2 https://www.flickr.com/photos/mark_I_photos/sets/72157706527625775

Nice footage, perhaps something we could explore setting up for Alty TV & social media content.
15  General Category / Altrincham FC First Team / Re: Latest replica shirt option on: February 08, 2019, 09:23:32 AM
Great initiative, in spite of the state of the shirt. And the widespread interest generated by the D&I and media teams is highly commendable (although a week later Im still struggling to comprehend that anyone thought an iPhone photo of AJ wearing a shirt stood in the club office was appropriate for sending out to the national media - despite us having more photographers around the club than ball boys...).

Hopefully the considerable media interest over the next week or so in the run up to the game can be used for the benefit of the club, as well as the fantastic cause it represents, to highlight the shares available for outside investment to come in and take the football club forward. It would be a massive shame if we allowed the spotlight to pass without anyone highlighting the controlling share of the club that is supposedly still for sale, while so many people are listening.
