Got sent the video of that before, looks like Chester Zoo monorail.

It’s no criticism of the shift that Max Harrop put in, but we were dominant after the introduction of Simon Richman. Him and Moult are really demonstrating their pedigree at this level.

Two standout performances were, as mentioned above, from Tony Thompson and Connor Hampson. Both had fantastic games. One step closer to getting out of this league. On a side note, we’re also starting to rebuilding our vocal support. Hasn’t felt quite right at most aways this season, but today and last Saturday at Farsley we’ve really got behind them.

The double is still well and truly on, anyway.

Hope we smash these to bits tomorrow.

Stafford 0-5 Altrincham

It would be good to get the full update, to include the positive steps that have been taken on things such as social media. Let's not ignore the positives, as many people still may not be aware of these.

For those interested, because we don't really have any other platform to update you all on and also for my own benefit as I'll have to type this at some point anyway.

SOCIAL MEDIA UPDATE:

What have we done since the start of the season?

1. Won the Marathon Bet Non League Challenge. Thank you to all of your help in sharing the tweet far and wide, it provided the club with a cash injection of £2,000: https://twitter.com/altrinchamfc/status/894889254110638081

2. Launched an Altrincham FC Spotify account. Developed a relationship with local business 'Honey Beat Vinyl Cafe' who provide us with match day playlists. Helping you to engage with our players through their Robins Playlist choices: https://open.spotify.com/user/altrinchamafc

3. Launched an Altrincham FC WhatsApp broadcast service. Direct news bulletins and match day updates delivered straight to fans' phones. Over 300 sign ups for a 'first of its kind' fan update strategy: https://www.facebook.com/altrinchamfc/videos/10155739377218894/

4. Launched the Fantasy Football game. Thank you to everyone who signed up and gave the game a go, we're always learning with this one and we hope you bare in mind that we're running this through an external website. Learning all the time with this one and we thank you for your patience: https://altrincham.fantasyclubfootball.co.uk/

5. Hired a #FootballManagerManager. We conducted mock interviews with dozens of Football Manager YouTube content creators via Twitter DM, and appointed Loki Doki as the man to play through the game as Altrincham and document his journey online. His series is a week old and has already amassed 80,000 YouTube views: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL4a8sN3TeTm8Tlfolr9zhPpyPy85NI6F0

6. Launched a downloadable fixture calendar for smart phones. Seamlessly fits into your phone's calendar and updates when there are any changes: https://www.stanza.co/@altrinchamfc#/v1/

7. Added an automated reply on the Facebook page. Being volunteers, we found that we weren't fully equipped to respond to some of the enquiries we were getting through the Facebook page. There is now an automated response service that directs people to the correct contact resource.

8. Improving our match day updates on Twitter. We're working with Mike Ripley to provide at least 2 or 3 live photos throughout the course of the 90 minutes. We'd like to thank him for his hard work and openness to providing a high standard of content for you all to enjoy! EDIT: And of course, Mr Gavin Rathbone as well.

As you can see, the majority of what we've been doing has been centred around providing fans with a fun and useful experience by dragging us into the modern day and making us relevant. We hope to start leveraging some commercial value out of the platforms now, we couldn't be in a better position to do so really. With the reach we currently have there is absolutely no reason why we can't start partnering with the right businesses to bring in either funds or services to help the club.

The bigger issue here is that CO92 may well be extremely famous, rich and a marketing dream which means sponsorship and investment will come to them, more importantly compared to us they are young and fresh.

They are attracting a young fanbase and capturing peoples imaginations.

We arent, we're languid. We are basically a modern example of how a company/football club shouldnt market itself.

Which brings us full circle to the point made yesterday, in that we can brand ourselves as modern and engaging through social media but its essentially pouring a tub of glitter on to a turd.

Imagine if some creative fan had suggested approaching them as a tie in to our away kit....

Like they'd have gone for it!

Seriously though, this is a case of who you know. This whole campaign has been outsourced to an agency (managing Vimto) who have previously worked on Hotel Football campaigns. Found that out yesterday.

It’s exactly that attitude why we wouldn’t have got it.

Not really. I'm saying the context of this partnership in question means we never would have been considered. Salford's owners are good friends with, and have previously worked well with, the PR agency that now work with Vimto.

There should be a full update on all 6 parts, including the social media side. I'm not sure why this would be excluded?

What do people want to know?

This is no surprise: we'd need someone with serious money to get beyond the due diligence stage. I can't see the Club attracting this kind of investor without a convincing, ambitious and engaging strategic vision: the Club doesn't have one. It had a "strategic review" which wasn't strategic. But there are people with serious money out there - the evidence is already there to see elsewhere.  The danger is, that ultimately the shares will end up being sold off in chunks, because we'll need the cash to fight the fires of semi pro football.

We can do that in part through branding the club and selling a narrative to the prospective buyers, the problem is that businesspeople aren’t silly - any marketing effort to sell the club to them will look very transparent when they get down to the meat and potatoes of what the club actually is.

To be fair to Grahame Rowley and the board, they recognised that the skills and contacts required to sell the shares don’t currently exist at board level, and took the sensible decision to engage the services of a third party to operate on their behalf. Therefore, I’d be interested to know,

* Where is the glossy brochure, or ‘investor pack’, to sell the club to potential investors?

* Where are the ‘investor days, we should be holding at the club?

* Where is the social media plan to raise awareness?

* Why are we not utilising every available media opportunity at the club (of which there has been many) to talk about the shares?

* Has anything else happened to advertise the shares since the club released a 3 paragraph statement on John Laidler’s website last June?

In short, what the f**k is actually being done, proactively, by this third party to raise awareness and sell the shares? Does anyone at the club still think that the current third party is the right one to act in the best interests of the club? And, who at the club is responsible for over-seeing this to make sure they are doing everything they can to find the right investors?

I think most people recognise that making a formal offer (such as in this case) doesn’t automatically make anyone the right people to take the club forward, but the above questions are not unreasonable for the board to be answering given the lack of action and progress over the past 9 months.

A social media campaign to raise awareness of the investment opportunity is more than achievable. We’ve just never been given the green light.

I know you’re aware, but just so everyone else is, I’ve not been asked to advertise the shares on the club’s social media channels. I did enquire about what I can possibly post, but I never had a response. Obviously this is a sensitive area, and one that I don’t have an understanding of, so I naturally haven’t pursued it further in case it jeopardised something.

It’s quite obvious what we need to do to really make a go of attracting potential suitors. Matt’s post above is, as usual, a good one.

What better opportunity to actually make a go at advertising them, now?

Why have we got a closed transfer window ? There isn't one in the Glue league !

It's funny you should post that, it will open some time today ahead of Saturday's game. We just need to make a small edit so that additional transfers cost -10.

We could have lost Shaun Densmore for a very long time following that tackle in the first half. Horrendous, straight red was completely warranted but not a true reflection of a game that was played the right way by two teams who kept it on the ground and clearly wanted to progress.

Their fans have every right to feel aggrieved following our second, there was a quite blatant foul on a ‘74 player in the build-up. It wouldn’t have changed much though. The writing was on the wall when we named such a strong defence, they were reduced to snatching at half chances of which I can only remember two. Professional and assured, as you would expect.

I know it’s not a night for negatives but I must say I expected more of Sean Miller, who played as a #9 but didn’t really influence the game as you’d expect. Perhaps we were just trialling him as a forward, as the more natural choice would have been Peers #9 Miller #11.

That's why football is a great game. Riley's tackle was a yellow at most and if it was a red why wasn't 't your lad sent off late in the second half for the same thing. Didn't like the way your keeper and six players surrounded the ref....

We competed really well and if it had stayed 11v11 who knows. Also tell your radio guys we are 1874 not Vics

Because Tom Peers' challenge wasn't as bad as the abysmal one that saw a red card in the first half. The only reason the referee would have given a red card would have been to even the numbers out of guilt. I'm glad he was strong enough to avoid that, albeit his overall performance was pretty abysmal. I'd agree that you competed well and I hope you go on to win the FA Vase this season.

Pure speculation but if he's on a non-contract like most, then there's nothing stopping Hednesford offering him a deal until the end of the season... If he's as pivotal as suggested.
