POLICE TELL OFF BOYS FOR PLAYING STREET FOOTBALL
Police told off Henry Worthington and his brother Alex for playing street football
Wednesday September 22,2010
By Daily Express Reporter
A POLICE force facing cuts was dubbed “heavy-handed” yesterday after three officers went to tell off two boys for playing street football.
Henry Worthington, 12, and his brother Alex, 11, were also warned they could get Asbos.
Their father Anthony, 43, of Timperley, Greater Manchester, was told by council officials that his sons could be in breach of an act which outlaws ball games.

Altrincham FC First Team / Worse Ref ever?
« on: September 04, 2010, 09:01:46 PM »
It appears the days of us being victims of appauling refs is obviously not over. I certainly dont subscribe to the view that bad decisions balance out over the season - that has never happened in our case and more than once we have finished in the relegation zone as a result.

Who is the worse Ref you have ever seen?
For the purpose of this excercise you cannot vote for ATS or his hero, Superwoman.

Altrincham FC First Team / Letter from Suid Afrika

Dear Ouboet (old friend)

Hou haan dit met yow ouboet? (how are you old friend)
I am delighted to hear that our self-acclaimed indigenous species are now annoying the whole of England as much as they annoy us.
I can confirm your order for 100 Red and White striped Vuvazelas.
Thank you for the photo of the Golf Road End and I confirm that the structure of this famous stand will allow the Vuvezela to be heard twice as loud as at the soon to be derelict stadiums of SA.
I have altered their nozzles so that  Englishmen can bow louder.
You are aware that these pieces of plastic are tuneless and will continue to whine and drone just like the one-eyed English commentators and has-been pundits?

Totsins (goodbye)

PS.While the whole world had their eyes on the soccer in SA, Die Bokke (Springboks) reminded everyone that they are the World's top Rugby nation by humiliating the current 6 Nations grand slam winners on Saturday at an authentic sports stadium in Cape Town (without Vuvezelas).

Altrincham FC First Team / Ebbsfleet today
« on: January 16, 2010, 06:58:43 PM »
Just got back from the game. A great 3 points seeing we havent played for a month and were away from home against a side that has had good recent results.
Ebbsfleet did most of the pressing and a draw wouldnt have been unjust. Chris Senior was magnificent. However our defence was very good. The first half was drab but the second half livened up. Russell Saunders did well but didnt have too much to do.
About 30 Alty fans there in a crowd of about 870
The Ref had a good game though didnt have too much to do as it was a clean game and no time wasting wiith sorting out defensive walls.

Altrincham FC First Team / Histon today
« on: December 05, 2009, 07:57:43 PM »
Just got back from the match. We played quite well and were probably the better team with the better chances.
A win would have been nice, but a draw is not a bad reesult.
Chris Senior caused them all sorts of problems and had a couple of efforts that narrowly went wide.
McAliskey did well and does the right things for a big target man and gets the basics right. Unfortunately he is slow and a couple of times later in the match we broke away with no support up front.
What I think we need is a younger Colin Little (a fit Dale Johnson would help) and a Matt Crowell - so I hope GH asks Santa for a magic wand for Christmas.

Altrincham FC First Team / Today game at Grays
« on: September 19, 2009, 07:32:29 PM »
Today we were clinical with our finishing.
Strange but I thought Grays were a better team today and more attacking than they were the last two seasons we played there.
However their defence hadnt a clue how to handle Senior or Denham.
My man of the match was Kearney who was magnificent in midfield but they all played their part. Smith was great.
This considering were are down to our bare bones squad wise - had to use 2 subs before half time due to two more injuries, and also subbed a sub.
A truely great result.
Well done lads

Altrincham FC First Team / Luton losing TV money
« on: June 11, 2009, 08:30:32 PM »
From the BBC.

Luton want TV contingency plans

Luton managing director Gary Sweet wants to see contingency plans brought in to protect clubs in broadcast deals.

Blue Square Premier clubs are still waiting to hear the fate of Setanta, who cover the league's matches.

The Irish broadcaster has stopped taking on new customers as it "attempts to secure the future of the business".

Sweet told BBC Three Counties Radio: "I'm disappointed no contingencies have been made with so much money around in the game."

And he fears the club could lose up to £120,000 in lost television revenue.

"Clearly as a high profile club in the conference this season we were hoping to be shown quite a few times," he said. "Burton were shown six times this season, which probably took them up to about £110,000 to £120,000.

I do think that further contingency should be made in case of this sort of event

Gary Sweet
"I think if you run your business properly, then that £70,000 to £80,000 [from television coverage] has probably already been spent because clearly if you want to buy a player you want to get in ahead of your competition and you need to make other plans.

"Contracts for the season need to be signed up during the summer, so pretty much every football club would have spent that £70,000 so now for us it is about how we create initiatives to recover that money if, of course, Setanta do go bust, or if they don't get bought out by somebody else.

The clubs are waiting to find out what will happen, with the Irish broadcaster's future very much in the balance.

Sweet explained: "We have got the Conference AGM this weekend, which we are attending, which could shed a little bit of light on the current situation.

"At the end of the day £70,000-£120,000 is a lot of money to Luton Town FC. It isn't so critical that it could put us on the brink, of course, it's not like ITV Digital a few years ago.

"But certainly for a number of clubs in the Conference it could be a problem. It could give Luton a little bit of a competitive advantage because we are more stable than most others.

"I do think that further contingency plans should be made in case of this sort of event, especially with the experience of ITV Digital, which literally did put a number of clubs into administration."

I am sure you will have all found this hilarious.
Who was it that turned down £37,500 last season because the game was on a Thursday night and now they reckon they could lose £70,000 of TV money when most of these game are played on a Thursday night!!!!
I hope they get a reality shock like Oxford and Wrexham did and that they struggle in the conference - IF they dont go bust first.

Altrincham FC First Team / Woking finish 21st - Poetic justice
« on: April 27, 2009, 11:11:18 AM »
Anyone remember the jibes at Alty fans of "Who is going to save you this season" from the Woking Fans at the first game of the season???
Now look who is hoping someone else gets demoted this season.
I have only 2 reasons for wanting Woking to stay up - 1. Along with Creapy Crawley it is my nearest ground.2. Its an opportunity for 6 points for us a season.

Altrincham FC First Team / Today's match
« on: November 08, 2008, 08:11:28 PM »
Just got back from the game today.
A very good and entertaining match considering there were no goals and not many clear chances.
I think a draw was a fair result. Luton started the better side, though by half time it was clear that an Alty win was there for the taking.
We defended very well, at the same time we were looking to attack whenever possible.
Alty support was magnificent and singing non stop from 2.30pm til 5pm.
Luton vocal support non existant apart from a few in the small terrace next to the away end.
Very poor crowd and lots expencive and waste of time stewards. So we wont make any money out of today.

Jimmy Sirrell was burried today in Nottingham
As manager he was famous for taking Notts County from Division 4 to Division 1
He was Notts County manager when they robbed us in the FA Cup 1st Round 1-0 at Moss Lane in 1972
If my memory is correct they got a very suspect penalty
We beat them in a friendly at Moss Lane 3-1 at the end of the same season
