Altrincham FC First Team / Re: Nine players leaving...
« on: May 05, 2016, 10:04:17 PM »
He must have a very good keeper lined up to release Tim.
Masha and Clee are our 2 best players - IF FULLY FIT and that is the concern.
I think Lawrie will be better at CN level and with tougher, bigger players around him.
I also have a gut feeling that Rankine will very good at CN level - AGAIN IF FULLY FIT.
We know that there is a budget cut - but we don't know what the players released were on or would command.

I would agree with that selection. However, sadly it is based on 3 players regaining fitness AND PREVIOUS FORM after long term injuries although we would all love to see this happen.

Both were brilliant, not just skill wise but fantastic attitudes. Best wishes to both whatever the do. These are the types of characters that Neil would like in his dressing room.

Back to the top.....it's not them. Hungerford win 2-1, so no need for a geographical switch this year.

So does that mean that Kidderminster go in the Conf South?
Unless I am missing something, Kidderminster is a lot further north than Gloucester or Brackley.
Or can you have 3 teams from the Conf National relegated to conf North and only one to conf South?

So an the immediate appointment of a new manager has been done which is what most on this forum wanted - and in my opinion the right thing to do.
Maybe some can now get off Grahame's back and let the new manager move us forward.

To be fair Grahame and/or his family often come over and stand with supporters at away games, especially at games where fans have made an extra effort to get there. I recall Bromley and FGR and also at Dover on a bitterly cold evening on St Patrick's Day last year when we only had about 20 fans.

The problems were obvious 2 years ago when we got promoted by the skin of our teeth. We needed 6 quality players to stand a chance of surviving in the National League. This was not done and we survived thanks to few postponements and few long term injuries. This season we were not so fortunate in that area. Maybe we didn't have the money available to get the types needed or a manager capable of doing so. There would have been uproar on this forum had we sacked Lee 2 years ago.

This season turned sour at FGR on a pitch that became unplayable. Havern got needlessly sent off and missed the Colchester game. Before the Colchester game one of their elderly fans said to me "You will win today as we are awful". My response was "I don't think so as we have 4 of our back 5 missing". We should never have lost that match, which we did thanks to 3 poor defensive errors - just like the ones yesterday. At Colchester if we had just had one of our Centre backs, Havern, Mash or Holness (signed 2 months later) we would have won. The momentum of being in the 3rd or 4th round of the FA Cup would have helped us get the points needed to survive, plus the extra cash. Instead we never caught up by winning games rescheduled due to bad weather, particularly home games against the likes of Chester and Guiseley.

So we start again. Firstly with quickly finding a good manager capable of taking a team out of the depths of Conference North to the top of the Conf National - like Braintree. We all know that we need a new team. However to expect this to be done without adequate finances is living on hope and prayer.

What was also annoying yesterday was the muppets that commentate for BT Sport kept on repeating that Braintree and Dover are part time club.

No James Lawrie?

Thought experiment: If you were on that jury and thought that some Liverpool fans did, in some way, contribute to the disaster, would you bother arguing your case? Or would you think its not worth the hassle?

That would make another mockery of the British justice system.
Sad that so many people lost their lives and so many families and others connected on that day have suffered for decades.
Fact - this would not have happened if ticketless Liverpool fans had not been there in the first place.
I hope that there is now finally closure on this for everybody's sake.

We can only hope for some dodgy results on Saturday evening that would keep us up.

Like FGR 0 Halifax 1 last weekend

Increasing the gate fee would be a backwards step. All the hard work to attract new fans would be undone straightaway, you may be able to afford it but a lot of people won't pay it.

I agree as we have done something right to get nearly 1,400 people to watch us play relegated Welling, who do not have a following.

If Shaun Densmore is contracted and currently club captain until a new appointment is made, would it be an idea to have him involved in interviews to give a players perspective?

I'm not saying give him a vote but perhaps he can add something?
nonsense - in what world do you interview your boss?

At my work, my manager was interviewed by the next boss up. However, after the interviews he came to me and he told me about their pros and cons and wanted my thoughts. We went for the guy who seemed more driven to make changes to a computer system that he previously worked on, and nearly a year later we are more productive as a team.

So possibly speak to Densmore after the interviews and see his thoughts.
I recently got promoted at work and I had to go to Woking for the interview. I asked my boss why she couldn't do it in Redhill as my work standard is so good that the promotion was a formality. She said it was not fair for her to interview me as her judgement would be viewed as bias, because she already knows that I am a nice guy. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
