Was Keith russell the last player we paid for ?

I believe that we paid money when signing Peter Band from Hyde United.

We haven't paid a fee for Andy White.

Just shows how creative we can be with our kits, rather than staying with just red and white block stripes.

Down through the years, we have had quite a few kits that haven't been Red & White block stripes.

Explanation by the club why covers were not used please ? It is a sprinkle of bloody snow. I was so looking forward to it.

The club has frost covers that will cover part of the pitch but not all of it.

What I've seen of them is aside from very physical,  is the keeper looks proper pony

I've seen Jon Stewart live once against Ramsbottom in the FA Trophy & watched a recording of the whole of the Mansfield FA Cup game last night & he was decent in both games.

Let's be honest, when the league fixtures were released back in July, this game was the first one that we eagerly scanned the list for....

Haha, the excitement palpable amongst London Alty Cult. Iím looking forward to a good day on the ales round one of the more underrated UK circuits. Iím especially looking forward to bumping into any Burton fans (away at Derby in their dream local derby on Saturday) and them asking us what league we play in these days, oh dear. The Don Amott Arena looks quite the venue too, appears to only have 3 sides. Itís games like this we just have to keep on grinding out and hoping next season itís back to normal away days at Stockport, York etc. The first XI have had a week off and did the business up the road against far tougher opppsotin last Saturday so sure itíll be another 3 points on Saturday. Shaw Lane vs Warrington on Saturday too so all the more important we get the win.

Having been to the Don Amott Arena before, I can confirm it does have an open side, shared with the cricket ground, and also that there are some very good pubs in Derby, although the ones near the station and therefore Pride Park may be packed out. Mickleover have come a long way in the last future years, but have lost more than they have won at home, so we should reasonably hope to win, without being arrogant about it.

Don Amott, who is the club chairman (and gives his name to the ground, which I hope gives nobody else any ideas),  is the "king of caravans" and has been responsible for some top quality TV adverts back in the day.

What's the club record for games unbeaten?

What's the club record for home games unbeaten?

Cheers!

In terms of league games, in the first season of the Alliance Premier League, we were unbeaten at home, winning 16 & drawing 3.

The following season, we lost 0-3 at home to Nuneaton on what I think was the second Saturday of the season. I think that we opened that season away from home at Stafford (3-1 win), so assuming that we may well have had a home midweek game, which, if we did, we didn't lose, the answer, in terms of league games is 20 league games unbeaten at home, plus any unbeaten home league games at the end of the 1978/79 season. If we weren't at home in a league game in that first midweek of the 1980/81 season, then the answer is 19 league games unbeaten at home, plus any unbeaten home league games at the end of the 1978/79 season, which was the season that we finished 2nd to Mossley in the Northern Premier League.
60  General Category / Altrincham FC First Team / Re: Shaw Lane lose manager to Boston on: November 22, 2017, 01:57:15 PM
The new Shaw Lane manager is Paul Quinn, who was previously the Brighouse Town manager before leaving in the summer (I think). They  have had a similar rapid rise through the leagues to Shaw Lane, although not quite as meteoric. He is the son of Gerry Quinn, who of course managed us 25 years ago; apologies if that makes anyone feel old.

Let's hope he's as good at his new job as his dad was for us!  Wink

PS: Don't need that to make me feel old - the 10 grandchildren (and an 11th due in February) do a good job of that!!!!  Cheesy Roll Eyes

Gerry Quinn did an excellent job for us. He assembled a good team with one of the smallest budgets in the Conference. We had a great FA Cup run to the 2nd Round & finished 10th in the league, with a particularly strong finish.

Gerry was very unfortunate to lose his job at the end of October the following season. His last home game was a victory over Slough, who were top of the table at the time. Cue John Maunders returning to the board & the manager is out within a fortnight. Roll Eyes
