Decent blocks by TT.

Kicking remains awful.

How did you rate Joel Bembo-leta today?

We do seem to have an issue with signing players who leave either before playing a game or after an incredibly short time. It's bound to happen from time to time, but I feel it's picked up in recent years. Under the current management, we've had Sefton Gonzalez, Anthony Dwyer, Charlie Scott, Josh Langley, Nathan Arnold, Max Clayton and now Potter, off the top of my head.

Fact of football, or do we need to do better?

Hi Steve, good luck with this but your messages seem a bit mixed up, so I'm just here to give you a hand.

If you're arranging a chat on Google Meet, then that isn't Zoom. Zoom is something else. Sort of like if you said I'm arranging a football match, so meet at the ice rink and be sure to have your skates.

Google Meet isn't something you have to install by the way. Harold, if you're on a computer. Just type Google Meet into Google and click on the first thing that comes up. You'll see a box that says "Enter a code or link". Steve should send you a code to type in and then you'll be good to go.

Hope you manage to get it going!

Well done to the Youths, never gave up against full time opposition.

I streamed for the first tme through Ticket Co TV on smart TV via fire stick I purchased. Overall quality much improved over streaming via laptop/hdmi onto TV. Buffered a couple of times but not sure whose fault that was. But overall excellent.

Will do next home game the same way.

Am I missing something here? Are South Shields really full time?

Could be heading to A League side Central Coast Mariners. He could follow in the footsteps of Matty Crowell!

I suppose with the money from Hulme's transfer, I was expecting someone with a more proven track record. I hope we havent signed another Bowler, Rankine or Gillespie.

Feel we still need to improve central midfield and possibly a central defender.

Justin Bowler made 1 (+8) appearances and scored 0 goals. Gillespie played 22 league games and scored once. Rankine, on the other hand, scored 15 goals in all competitions in his one season with us. I don't think he's nearly in the same category. And if Adarabioyo matches his record I think everyone would be impressed.

Highland League was due to kick off tomorrow, but the full programme has now been postponed. The Lowland League kicks off on schedule with such joys as Bonnyrigg Rose v Gretna 2008.

I am very concerned about the fate of these Highland League clubs. There's little enough to do in some of these towns, the loss of a football club is so much more than the loss of a football club.

Yeah, could be a killer. It's a shame as the pyramid has really opened up recently and it seemed there was going to be a bit of a shake up. Let's hope some support can be organised.

Telegraph journalist Jim White:

"Just spoke to the chairman of a National League side. The league has said it is now not going to start without fans. But furlough ends next month. Which means there is going to be wholesale redundancy for players, coaching staff and administrators. Disaster looms for many clubs."

Well, the greyhounds demise was sped up by COVID, but the dog track was already scheduled for demolition so they were finished anyway. The speedway are fine by the way, they're playing fixtures (if that's the right term) in the shiny new stadium next door.

Oh, it's going to be absolute carnage, no doubt. I think the non league football landscape is going to change hugely in the coming 12 months. It gets worse the lower down you go though. The Counties have already lost two teams, FC Oswestry and Shelley and I expect there'll be many moire to come. There's certain things that can be done, streaming games etc, which have the potential to mitigate the losses. The lower down you go, the harder that gets though.

By the way, who do you mean by Belle Vue? There was never a club by that name?

I'll join in with some COVID stuff, given I'm one of those who demanded your exile!

I see Connah's Quay manager and noted maniac Andy Morrison has bent the rules with regards pandemic protocols. What's your take, Hugh?

The thing about Bon Accord being a cricket team who entered by accident is a myth. They were just an inexperienced football team. (The cricket club sometimes mentioned wasn't formed until a month after this game).

Bon Accord is an old Scottish battle cry used for sports clubs sometimes. There's a modern club near Motherwell, Shotts Bon Accord.

Anyway...Macclesfield seem to have gone the way of the original Bon Accord club!

Altrincham FC First Team / Re: Triallists
« on: September 16, 2020, 10:17:12 AM »
I'm not actually sure Lundstram was ever on the cards for 2020/21 to be honest, it was only hope that kept his name in the mix really? Fair play to Crewe for allowing him to come back and complete the job here, but he's a great young prospect for them and they clearly want to have him around the first team squad - at least for now. Time to move on I think.

That said, I agree there appears to be a Lundstram shaped hole in our squad. He took us up a level and without him I do fear we may miss what he provided for us. Then again, it's on Willo now to step up and make that role his again. We're 180 minutes into pre-season. Let's see what happens and how we progress.

Moving on to last night's trialists, I thought the right back, Joel Senior, was really impressive particularly in the first half. I'd like to see him again.

Senior was really impressive in local football for a while before his move to Burnley. He played for Maine Road in the counties from about 16 and was considered one of their best players. He moved up to FCUM and was pretty good for them too, though I think he was sometimes deployed at wing back which didn't suit him at the time. I'd imagine the year of professional football will have done him the world of good.

What position did he play last night, do we know? I think he's mostly played right back, and I can't imagine we need a third.
