Were any IOM players sufficiently good enough to warrant Phil taking an interest in future?

Main site says Ďnew signingí Sean Miller? Have we signed him on again?

It was a typo, it meant Sean Williams but I reckon Miller might yet get re-signed.

I suppose being a bit of a technophobe I wouldnít notice technical issues with the old site. I just know it was very easy to use which for me is the main thing. Iím not a massive one for change and like a good moan but Iím sure Iíll get used to it.

We are committed to giving our fans what they want from the new website and across all our other services. We know we are not yet offering an equivalent service to the imperious John Laidlar yet, but it is our intent to do so.  And Matchday Updates is certainly part of this. You may recall we have not always been able to offer Matchday Updates for Pre Season Friendlies so please don't be so quick as to write us off.

And please understand the distinction between the platform (the look and feel) and the content (what's on it). We feel we have improved the platform but, again, we have a lot to do to get the content to the same level.

Can I ask for two things - the first being some tolerance from our fans as we grow the content, the second being to make sure we have all your suggestions for umprovement.

The website is provided for all us Alty fans.  We would be stupid to not provide what we need

If it's not broken then don't try and fix it?

I liked the old site too, however since the excellent John Laidlar was stepping down, it was the right time to introduce a newer and more up to date platform, we must look to the future you know Martin  Cheesy

I think we've got to "suck it and see". Try it for two seasons and see what the result is...

Err,.. bankrupcy !

I am all in favour of FT football, its the only way the club can progress on the field long term,.. but it has to be well planned and affordable without making us go bust.
I accept that to some degree, the success will depend on how well we do, crowds are a huge part of the equation, maybe thats what Ian J was meaning,.. ?

But starting from where we ar now, I think most serious people will realise this would only be possible now with some serious external investment and thats what we have struggled for years to get.

Pukka Pieman as usual delighted to see a lack of investment at the top level of non league football.....shrugs shoulders, no point in having ambitions...may as well give up eh?

1 of 2 things will happen at Gateshead......they will not find an investor capable of taking them forward at full time status so will keep looking but stay as high as they can as a part time sustainable club probably beating Alty at every opportuinity......
or they WILL find another investor, they will go back to full time status, compete at the top of the national league, aim for promotion to the football league, big cup runs and perhaps a trophy final.....

You clearly dont read my posts do you !

I am just as ambitious as you. Not only have I actually invested in the club but been an integral part of seeking it for many years. I bet I have tried a damn sight more than you have  Roll Eyes

But having this experience has taught me the REALITY whereas so much of what is posted is a mixture of wishful thinking and downright desperation.
There are some key factors why people would invest in Alty,.. the fact that nobody has invested heavily in at least 20 years I know of should give you a clue.

I want Alty full time and in the NL and hopefully the FL in my lifetime, is that ambitious enough for you Jezza  Wink

I see Gateshead have found new investors to keep the club full time, management structure in place and a vision to take the club forward with the aim of league football, found inside three weeks. Itís no surprise though because the north east isnít impoverished, spennymoor and South Shields arenít already local
Bankrolled nonleague teams and Gateshead donít only average 852 in the national league.......

Gateshead to go part-time after buyer withdraws takeover bid.

Didnt stack up did it  Shocked Roll Eyes
10  General Category / Altrincham FC First Team / Re: Shaw Lane close diwn on: June 08, 2018, 05:15:50 PM
This is sad but probably inevitable.

What this demonstrates is that wealthy people will invest in their own projects where they have a local connection (in this case Barnsley).

What hasnt happended yet at Alty is for this to happen at Alty. Historically it wasnt encouraged after the bad experience of Maunders,.....
However, lately, despite clear attempts to find investor(s) nobody seems to have come forward,.. I remain convinced this is exactly because there is so much competition in the NW and so many other options to invest in.
11  General Category / Altrincham FC First Team / Re: Statement from Barrow Chairman/Owner - Ring a bell ? on: May 29, 2018, 10:45:08 PM
Managerless Barrow have now brought in Astley Mullholand and Jack Hindle from Colwyn Bay, alongside Josh Granite from Ashton United.

i wonder who is deciding what players they bring in? this smacks of desperation to me, surely these lads signed from Colwyn Bay cant be NL standard or has everyone else missed something?

It doesnt bode well for Barra.

And PP had quite a few unexpected/lengthy injuries to deal with, both fullbacks, Amiss, Lawrence etc.

Excellent re-signing, much improved player than before and playing a league below as well.
Welcome back Sean, I know you will love it at Alty again  Grin
