whats the fascination with who we play at christmas?

Droylsden was fine

Surely we want Chester or FCUM (if they get promoted) playing them early in the season would be best?
Christmas fixtures tend to attract better crowds. If the percentage of away supporters is increased by say 10% for these games, we want an extra hundred from Chester rather than three men and a dog from Droylsden.
We would get a bigger crowd against Chester on August bank holiday than at Christmas (and any additional police costs etc would be a lot less)

Shouting and Heckling a referee or assistant official over a bad decision is almost a given, but to imply the reason the decision was made incorrect was due to the gender of the official is non-sensical and unacceptable.

From my opinion it was offside and that she made a mistake, but mistakes happen in football by all linesmen and at all levels - not just the women. Personally, I think all the linesmen/assistant referees we have had this season have been of a similar standard of mediocrity - be them old, young, black, white, gay, straight, male or female.

Some of the abuse thrown at the women running our side yesterday was totally uncalled for. Baring in mind, the offence people took to Dennis Birch recently, I wonder what peoples reactions would be if a fan claimed the assistant was unable to do their job on the basis of skin colour?

I'd also like to point out the club could have stopped this sorry affair by allowing the majority of vocal fans to stand where they normally do which is not directly infront of a linesman.
well said

yes we must improve

my gripe with the manager is that i have no faith or trust in him getting it right - tactically or attracting the right players

ripping it all up? not really anything to rip up - we have little other than Reeves
50  General Category / Altrincham FC First Team / Re: The Alty Swingometer on: April 23, 2012, 12:10:25 AM
What, is it completely unbelievable that I might have spoken to one of the players? That's one of the great things about our club, you can approach people and ask them things. Reeves has respect for Sinnott they were together at Leeds.

no it is not unbelievable at all............i have spoken to Damien many times myself............and recently as well

51  General Category / Altrincham FC First Team / Re: The Alty Swingometer on: April 22, 2012, 11:57:07 PM
It's interesting as well, because I'm pretty sure Reeves cited Sinnott's appointment as one of his main reasons for staying.
Thats what Damien told you was it?Huh

Why do we need to do lots of hypothetical workings?

If we'd have had McGivern as a partner from the start then we might have made the playoffs regardless of the state of the midfield or defence.

If we'd have unearthed the right defensive pairings we could have won lots of games one nil without Reeves.  It's all pie in the sky.

To say we would have been relegated is nonsense and someone with your level of non league knowledge knows it really, you've just become clouded with a hatred of the current manager.
35 points without Reeves

if you can not see the problem then it not my judgement clouded

McGivern a better partner than Redshaw? he only had one good game and that was yesterday
53  General Category / Altrincham FC First Team / Re: The Alty Swingometer on: April 22, 2012, 11:35:31 PM
for the record if you deducted all Reeves goals this season we would now have 35 points - so not that many pointless meaningless goals as you think

now add your hypothetical replacement striker and how many points do we have?
54  General Category / Altrincham FC First Team / Re: how many of our fans play/played football? on: April 22, 2012, 11:26:30 PM
I played for a few Star Inn, Navigation and Pelican

where did you play?

I was going to say that our paths had crossed on the parks pitches of the Alty Sunday League but this is perhaps the wrong forum

good times

i thought it was you!
55  General Category / Altrincham FC First Team / Re: your best alty moment this season? and worst... on: April 22, 2012, 09:29:35 PM
Best for me are two things , one the ejection of Mr Birch and the resulting ban , then  Nicky Clees goal at Colwyn (still think it should be goal of the season) .

Worst Sinclair scoring the winner for Colwyn at home .

worst - Solihull away

best - Boston home
56  General Category / Altrincham FC First Team / Re: who would you say...... on: April 22, 2012, 09:26:52 PM
best - Pye/Sanders

worst - Sinnott/Williams
To say that Sinnott is one of our worst ever managers after this long is completely ridiculous
Ok Mike just my thinking

But as you disagree would you care to enlighten me, who was worse in your opinion?
Not been supporting Alty long enough to really have an opinion on that, but come on, Lee's been here under a year and it's not like we're in a crisis or anything. Give him a chance that's all I'm saying

ok, but for the record we are currently 8th in the table, if we finish the season 8th that will represent are 4th worst EVER position finish in the non league pyramid

And who was in charge for those seasons where we finished below 8th? A certain Graham Heathcote, who I'm sure isn't the worst manager this club has had.

Stats don't tell the whole story.

of course stats dont tell the whole story

we all well aware of problems we had in the unibond years

but what about now? which stats are not reflective now? have we defended better than the goals against column suggests?
57  General Category / Altrincham FC First Team / Re: 180 minutes of twiss to go! on: April 22, 2012, 09:16:35 PM
Is all ths criticism of Michael Twiss really justified?

You bleedin bet it is.  Angry Angry Angry

all this twiss bashing is all well and good

but to be fair he has been far far from our biggest problem this season!

lets not kid ourselves
58  General Category / Altrincham FC First Team / Re: forth kit on: April 22, 2012, 09:08:53 PM
this is a brilliant idea and i would definately buy one

may i suggest green and white hoops, a bit like celtic, think that'd be good

your joking.....right?
59  General Category / Altrincham FC First Team / Re: The Alty Swingometer on: April 22, 2012, 09:03:20 PM
I would only put us at 60%, without Reeves49% Sad

Take away Reeves goals and trust me it does not leave you with 49%

without Reeves goals we would have been relegated by a mile

currently 13 points above relegation.........what price 44 goals?

25%

So nobody elese would have scored any goals in that time?

yes but not enough to keep us up

how many points do you think Reeves goals have been worth this season?

and how many do you think someone else would have scored in his place?
