I sent Bill a message a few months ago - on the very subject on plugging the funding gap - with a selection of proactive ideas.

1. club together

A crowdfunding campaign designed to united whatever remain of the board and the fans. Fans pitching in money to be matched in some way by a board personal contribution or by bringing in funds from a college or business associate (non existing)

A target of 30,000 for fans, and 20,000 for the board. Every penny pledge by a fan would be held until the total has been reached, and returned if the figure is not met. Should the 30,000 be met, the 20,000 is then added by the board.

The rewards for fans donating could be cool one offs such a pair of custom "Altrincham" adidas orginals, a curry with an Altrincham legend (max 10 people), a Lego version of moss lane, an Alty TV experience for your cup final. Non of this match day experience free coach trip etc.

2. Doing up the sponsors lounge office

Turning the offices in the Manchester glass lounge into 4-6 people dining areas themed around the club. So one could be alty giant killers, one could be subuteo and one Altrincham community. These could potentially be cool meeting rooms of offices for hot desking (or still used by their current purpose.

3. Plugging the news gasp.

A whatsapp version of club call. Instant team new, signing etc straight from the website.

Great ideas, although I suspect a little too advanced/modern for our prehistoric board. A board who can't get their head around the importance of social media, for example...

Did you hear anything back?

I believe this was the compromise made at the last board meeting. Rowley wanted to confirm Doughty as manager for next season straight away without inviting applications, but the other board members disagreed wanting a fair and transparent contest and they debated it for over 5 hours, what we see was the outcome

The man's unbelievable  ::) ???

I would like to make a couple of points in addition to my original statement.

1.  The decision to change the password on the Twitter account was a Board decision - discussed and agreed by the Board.  As a board we have recognised that we have not necessarily acted as a collective in the past; and as part of our evolution we are trying to make sure we do going forward.  In this case, we did take a collective decision and increasingly we will do so in the future.

2. I put out the statement, and take accountability for the error because I am the Director with responsibility for communication.  No-one is hiding behind me, I am rather stepping up to meet my obligations.  Again as a board we have recognised that we each need to take individual accountability for the areas we look after.  What this will mean, to be clear, is that there will no longer be just one individual  - the Chairman - being held to account for what goes on at the club, we all will be.  Collectively accountable for the decisions we take together and individually accountable for those areas under our control.  In my opinion this is healthy change and will lead to a healthier club.

3. I have no objection to the board being criticised for mistakes we make, and be sure we will make mistakes from time to time.  But can we please stop the personal criticism of family members, specifically in this case the Rowley family.  I do not believe this has any place in a debate about rights and wrongs of this or any other issue.  Ad hominem commentary has no place in interactions between the board and the fans.  So please can we make every effort to cut this out.

As a board we are trying to change - and we need to in order to face up to and overcome the challenges facing the club.  Please recognise our positive intentions.  We have a big job ahead of us.  And lets keep the criticism directed firmly where it belongs if we do not deliver change - at the board, at each and every one of us but not elsewhere.

Was it a 'board decision' to change the password halfway through the match?

Going by some of the comments from the Rowley/board camp, I suspect they are stuck in the 1980's and don't appreciate how important social media is. The fact they thought that someone could do it after just 10 mins training prior to a match shows this. They consider it an after-thought, something that keeps the kids amused. Social media (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram etc.) is VITAL for companies.  Companies and brands spend a fortune on social media, so for the work that Jack and Andrew did voluntarily to be dismissed is outrageous and unforgivable. Social media represents how professional a company or business is. The fact that the feed from the Stalybridge game was cut halfway through is embarrassing and unprofessional.

The sooner this antiquated board drag themselves into the 21st century the better.

Ha ha ha, I didn't realise the closing date for applications was so soon. As if any decent manager is going to apply for this job whilst the season is still ongoing. Surely they're going to be concentrating on being successful in their current club until the season ends rather than bailing to join the disaster that's Alty.

If Saturday's gate was inflated due to non showing season ticket holders, then you could argue that it wasn't just 25 or 30 people who walked out after 15 minutes; it was 2-300 who walked out before the gates even opened.

Very good.

First the Chairman.......Thank you!

What the..!?

Quote
the mistake that was the appointment of Neil Young, a mistake that everyone appears to agree on including the chairman

Does everyone forget that after Young left, in the match programme Rowley said this ---> "I would like to put on record my personal thanks to Neil Young for the way he dealt with the situation. I do not regret employing Neil-he was the best candidate available when we advertised the job and he worked tremendously hard to make things work. Unfortunately things transpired against him with injuries and players not performing to expectations and thus, with dignity,he resigned his post. If,as I was informed that comments on Social Media,to him and his family, were a contributory factor then I think the people involved should hold their heads in shame."

If Young hadn't resigned, Rowley would NOT have sacked him. He agreed with Young's methods of a continuing rotation of crap, Sunday League players, hoping that, eventually, some would come good.

..  if the chairman was to leave it would be more than a new chairman that is required so much so i wonder if the club would even be able to forfill their fixtures as it takes more than 11 players to be able to take part in matches, worth some people considering what they wish for!!!

LOL and what the hell? What a ridiculous thing to say.

Yes we are going to have to go through the pain barrier of having to climb back up the leagues to get back to the National league where we all want to be but we can have some fun doing so

When we relegated last year, I bet many of us thought the same, that after always been in a relegation struggle, we'd finally get to score some more goals and win some games and be more competitive for a change...

Quote
our Chairman has led us to promotion in the past so why can this not be achieved again.

If the chairman is the reason we were promoted, why is he not to blame for 2 relegations?

twitter boys.....you have done some really good work for the social media over recent months but try going into work tomorrow and publically insulting and abusing your boss and see if there are any consequences!

Prove it. Do you actually use Twitter? If so, you would know there has been no abuse whatsoever. There was one single tweet quoting something John Laidler said on the official website (basically that some fans have left the ground). Why hasn't Laidler been sanctioned?

Finally, have you ever heard of line breaks and spelling?

Hi Cult, they said they had someone at Bower Fold watching the game sho was going to report back to them.

I confess to being a little surprised that neither Matt Doughty nor Robbie Lawton appear to be taking the opportunity to head over to Bower Fold tonight in order to watch Stalybridge Celtic versus Bradford PA, particularly as we are scheduled to play both of those clubs in two of our next three league fixtures.

That would just seem to constitute a potentially more profitable evening than conducting this somewhat immaterial forum.

Even so, it's only down the road, it's ridiculous/unacceptable they didn't go.

Well done the lads today for winning at Boston United.
Well played last week at AFC Telford United when you deserved at least a point, and were only cruelly denied that point by a wicked deflection from an 87th minute shot that was going wide, in a game where the AFC Telford United goalkeeper was the official man of the match.
Well done Buzz, and Robbie and Graham Heathcote for producing two back to back performances worthy of a team far higher in the league.
If Alty finish above bottom then the current management team have done well considering the absolute bag of sh*te they inherited.
AFC Telford United had the great Luca Havern at the back and former Football League player Lee Hughes playing for them.
Well done to the die hard Alty fans who went to Telford and gave the team a standing ovation at the end of the match, because believe me if Alty played like that most weeks then then they'd piss this league.
Well done to the Alty fans that wanted Lee Sinnot out - you've got your wishes come true. A fresh manager, full of "passion" in Neil Young. If you want to know why we are in the current position that we are in then look no further than the mirror. Well played boys. Sinnott would have pissed this league with his team (which is now spread far and wide). Give yourselves a clap.
Well played to all the fans wanting Rowley out. He listened to you last year and let Sinnot walk out (or pushed him, does it really matter now what actually happened) - he's now thinking you're a bunch of knobheads, you know f**k all.
Have your little 12 man walk out.
Have any of you thought of putting some cash into the club?
Well played Dawn btw, I actually like your coffee.
This forum used to be fun, it used to be full of articulate comment and interesting views. Now it's just a sh*t version of the Macclesfield Moan In, the non league 909606.
So, have a go, tell me I know naff all, tell me I don't go to all the matches, or be original and tell me something I don't know.

U ok hun?

Is the fact we gave him a payout another example of our Chairman's "too nice" approach.
