Let warrington win the trophy......let us win the league and then next season go for 3rd round of the fa cup and semis in the trophy and promotion...nothing less will do...

Except next year some people will still say they want to concentrate on the league/promotion/avoiding relegation, rather than giving it a go in the cups.

It's his cruciate on the same knee as last time.

I thought Harrop was great in the first half but faded in the 2nd. Taylor was pretty anonymous throughout, except for the couple of wayward shots on goal.

Classic example was Tom Peers yesterday, came in later in the 2nd half and hit two goals. How many of us saw that coming, being truthful, as he has had little game time and took the game by the scruff of the neck after his introduction.

I think he'd scored 3 in 6 starts prior to Saturday's game, so no surprise for me. I'd play him from the start; I think we look more balanced with him and JJ on the wings.

Running Twitter, Instagram and WhatsApp as a one man band tonight so if updates aren't as fast as usual it's because I'm not Inspector Gadget. Cheers.

We appreciate all that you and the other social media guys do :)

Altrincham FC First Team / Re: Press release re Investment
« on: June 16, 2017, 03:14:40 PM »
I would just like to make a couple of points to clarify:

1) John's Laidlar's account on the website reflects his observations as a private shareholder.  Hence his "passed unanimously in the room" comment.  We have not yet released an official report of the meeting - currently I don't know when this will be released but I am following up to ascertain this.  There is certainly no intent from the club to conceal the results.

2) The intent is to sell the new share issue in major tranches, in other words to investors who are putting a reasonably sized investment into the club.  We have a means to sell shares to those who require a small stake which will not dilute the new issue at all.

3) As I stated last night, in order to deliver on our ambition we need to expand the board.  The injection of capital will be welcome but just as welcome will be the injection of new energy, new ideas and new expertise.

4) We have not rolled back on how we intend to use the Sports Partnership.  Rather we are still exploring the best way to work with them in the commercial domain - attracting new sponsors and the like - without overlapping with our current initiatives.  We will continue to work with them in looking for new investors.

I hope this helps

May I ask why John is posting personal observations on the club's official website?

Very good :)

One of the worst defenders I've seen in an Alty shirt.

You've not been watching Alty long then!!
Over 30 years not long enough?

I'd pay full price for a season ticket if Rowley steps down but nothing if he doesn't and that's that I'm afraid.

That wasn't the question.

Word on the street is that we should be expecting a few Nantwich players to come here.

You don't have to be Poirot to reach that conclusion, really.  ;)

Yeah, I was being slightly facetious :D

It doesn't help that the squad was decimated by Young so we've had the dregs from the lower leagues playing for us.

Bassangue, mainly because I don't know the names of most of the rabble who've turned out for us.

I sent Bill a message a few months ago - on the very subject on plugging the funding gap - with a selection of proactive ideas.

1. club together

A crowdfunding campaign designed to united whatever remain of the board and the fans. Fans pitching in money to be matched in some way by a board personal contribution or by bringing in funds from a college or business associate (non existing)

A target of £30,000 for fans, and £20,000 for the board. Every penny pledge by a fan would be held until the total has been reached, and returned if the figure is not met. Should the £30,000 be met, the £20,000 is then added by the board.

The rewards for fans donating could be cool one offs such a pair of custom "Altrincham" adidas orginals, a curry with an Altrincham legend (max 10 people), a Lego version of moss lane, an Alty TV experience for your cup final. Non of this match day experience free coach trip etc.

2. Doing up the sponsors lounge office

Turning the offices in the Manchester glass lounge into 4-6 people dining areas themed around the club. So one could be alty giant killers, one could be subuteo and one Altrincham community. These could potentially be cool meeting rooms of offices for hot desking (or still used by their current purpose.

3. Plugging the news gasp.

A whatsapp version of club call. Instant team new, signing etc straight from the website.

Great ideas, although I suspect a little too advanced/modern for our prehistoric board. A board who can't get their head around the importance of social media, for example...

Did you hear anything back?
