Altrincham FC First Team / Re: WE ARE STAYING UP ! ! ! ! ! ! !

To be fair to those that don't/can't attend, I still think they're entitled to their opinion. They're only simply looking at our league position, our current form, lack of goals and drawing logical conclusions. However well we might or might not have played in recent games, the simple fact is that we keep losing.

Oh and I very much doubt there's any Alty fan that thinks we should be winning every week and be near the top - who's said that?

The majority of us will keep going to the games and shouting our support, but at the moment the 12th man theory isn't working. I'd like GH to try and motivate the 11 on the pitch and sort out the shower of a defence before the fans getting the blame for not getting behind the team.

If out of the last 4 games we had a further 4 points would we have all this doom and gloom on here?

It's all ifs and ands. If we'd won this game, or won that one. There's no point in saying 'well we wouldn't be moaning if we'd got more points' when the fact is we haven't won in 4 or 5 so I think we are entitled to a moan.

Would people be calling for Azza's head on a plate if he'd scored against Southport and set another up for a draw yesterday? I doubt it.

I haven't rated Aspinall at all this season and think people seem to accept his poor defending and woeful passing/crossing, just because he's scored a few penalties. Any number of the squad could be the penalty taker. I don't doubt his effort, but we seem to rely on him to much... but I've no idea why! Everytime I see him stand over the ball for a free kick I know that it's going to end up over the bar or out of the ground. Someone needs to step in and take the responsibility for free-kicks, crossing etc off him. We're so one dimensional it's ridiculous.

Yeah Rod's on form, so I'd play him out wide. Personally, I'd play Pat and Colin up front :)

No Peakes from me :)

Colin scored against Tamworth in the trophy iirc. He was also out injured for a while too. Colin is a natural goalscorer, whereas Joe isn't. Colin is also proven at scoring in this league, is our only real class player and isn't afraid to shoot. Yes, he's looked a tad out of sorts at the minute, but the team as a whole aren't playing well.

Just my opinion of course :)

Anyone think it's time to maybe drop Aspinall and play Gary Scott instead? I don't know how many more misplaced passes/wayward crosses I can take :)

Drop Little now I say, he is clueless at the moment.

And Joe is quite the goal machine, eh?  ::)

I'd rather we didn't use the cup final analogy what with Alty's dire cup record in recent years ;)

3-0 defeat.

Whilst Peyton did a good job, he is quite obviously not a natural left back and I think the opposition took advantage of that which left him and the defence exposed at times.

He looked much more comortable playing in his preferred position, although I think he needed some composure with his final ball. It looked like he was relishing being played further up but maybe over excitment resulted in a few wayward crosses.

On the whole, I'd keep Scott at left back. Once he gets used to playing with Bandy & Co, I'm sure he'll fit in. Gutted that it was him that cocked up for the goal though  :-[

« on: January 26, 2007, 08:01:32 PM »
I agree that, whilst Peyton does a lot of running and puts everything into it, the fact is he gets caught out far too easily and it's quite obvious that full back isn't his natural position and I think the opposing team see that and exploit it.

Hopefully having someone that knows that position inside out will give us more balance, something which we haven't had all season at the back (even when we've played Gary Scott). The difficulty for GH is whether to just push Peyton forward on the left, instead of either Rod or Lewis, or drop him altogether which would be a shame.

So now we've got Peyton, Lewis, Bushell, Val, Robbie and maybe Rod too, to play in midfield. Should GH play the best four skill wise, potentially out of position, or should he pick the best 4 position wise (i.e. Rod on the wing instead of Lewis or Robbie).

I'm not sure any of that makes sense... oh well :D

What about Senior?

I'm quite excited about this news! How sad am I? ;)

Peyton offers another potential goal threat playing in midfield, so this gets a big thumbs up from me  ;D

I'd never drop Little, he's just too good a player to have on the bench and he has scored since coming back (against Tamworth). I'd play Little and Senior upfront and drop Joe.

I think this will be a scrappy one, but we'll pull out a goal near the end to win 1-0.

Any news on Bushell? I hope GH doesn't stick Joe on the wing again  :-\

But we have 15 strikers! We'll be fine!  ;)
