Seems these weren't heat-of-the-moment words - we've signed a new striker. See official site.

Good luck James.

He looks to be a big lad. I wonder if he'll be like John McAliskey with a bit more pace, energy and finishing prowess?

It may just me my computer acting up, but hasn't the article about the new signing disappeared off the main site now?

If it's NOT my computer's fault, has the move fallen through for some reason?  ??? ???

Just realised that and was going to amend my previous post!

Old age really is a b*st*rd isn't it?  :D

Jimmy played for my mate's local (The Blue Mugge) in Leek and he told me about him 3 years ago.......I did mean to recommend him to Graham at the time but never got round to it (mainly on the basis I didn't think he'd take any notice!!). My mate reckoned Jimmy could play at our level so it will be interesting to see if he can.

How on earth could he possibly not have more of those qualities than McAliskey....?!

I have been impressed with Reeves, we know what Dale can do and Denham for me has worked his tripe off and is definitely good enough for the division.

Ecky,

Alas, we also know what Dale apparently is unable to do i.e. score goals on a regular basis.

Only seven goals in his 49 (+19) appearances to date.

Welcome to the Alty fold James and good luck. Competition for places is never a bad thing.

Personally I think its a bit early to be saying our strikers are not good enough.. Reeves has played all right since he came and I am sure he will start finding the net soon... I reckon if you asked Twiss he himself would admit he could have started the pre season fitter than he did.. We all know what Dale brings to the table.. He will never be a prolific goal scorer but he has the capability to bring other players in to the game and once he is fully back to fitness he will contribute more up front..

I am still optimistic about the season and just hope we can start to field a settled mid field who have the ability to control the middle of the park....

Injuries and suspensions will be our biggest achilles heel this season
Cmon ALTY....

welcome James and good luck.

personally I think the 'cote must have been at best mosquoted....he would never even think he had to have the means to sign better players let alone issue such a Harry Redknapp style threat.

He may have said we need to score more goals but he must also be thinking heavily about last minute goals going in and thus the defence/midfield...it's a double edged sword at the moment and both problems just need a tweak and we'll start picking up more points.
