COOPER SACKED / ALTY HOLDING THEIR NERVE

I see that Cooper has been sacked at Tampax.  Sounds like they are panicking a bit considering they have a couple of games in hand on some teams.

This Saturdays game against Kiddy is a tough one against an in-form team.  This season we are strong at home and three points would be more than helpful.  Lets hold our nerve Alty.........

From Sky:

Tamworth boss Mark Cooper has left the club by mutual consent.

The Lambs have endured a terrible slump in form and currently languish at the bottom of the Conference table.

Tuesday's defeat to Forest Green signalled the end for Cooper and he has left the club alongside assistant Richard Dryden

A club statement read "This follows concern over the league form and the position the club finds itself in.

"The club would like to place on record its gratitude for the hard work and commitment shown by Mark and Richard during their tenure."

Is this just the position in the league or the overall position the club is in off the pitch also I wonder ?

Gary, correct me if I am wrong but Tamworth are part-time like us arnt they?  In the past couple of seasons they must have made some dosh from their FA Cup runs.  They were on the telly the other week which should have made their wallets even fatter!  An FA Cup heh I remember them...........

Can Mark Cooper play at left full-back?

Yes they have made money from the FA Cup in recent times but it just seemed a funny statement to make. Why not say
"This follows concern over the current league position the club finds itself in"

This is of course presuming that FA Cup money goes to the club and not to directors \ chairman ala Northwich Vics.

IF they had that money then it seems odd to sack him on 24th January. Not really much time for a new manager to do some dealings ?

...its for the good of the game.

Now if Cooper ended up at FGR, that would be a dream team!!

I love comments like this

"Jake Edwards is set travel to The Lamb today to sign for Tamworth. And the Crawley Town striker, who was a hero of Tamworth's FA Cup campaign last season, has vowed to fire Mark Cooper's men up the Conference table. 'I should put pen to paper today', Edwards revealed. 'It's exciting to be going back to The Lamb because I enjoyed my time there last season. The players, staff and fans were all lovely people... I think there are only three lads - Adie Smith, Dave Bampton and Kyle Storer from when I was there before. But I'm looking forward to meeting the other players and to working with Mark Cooper and Richard Dryden again because they are great to work with

With a bit of jornalistic licence you can extract this from the quote:

"Jake Edwards is set travel to The Lamb today to sign for Tamworth. And the Crawley Town striker, who was a hero of Tamworth's FA Cup campaign last season, has vowed to fire Mark Cooper" ...............

Obviously our Jake is a man who gets things done.

cooper was with forest green about three seasons ago and was fantastic for us. centre midfield and ended our top goal scorer for the season he was here. now older and carrying more weight I'm not sure he is as good as he use to be. but sky have got it wrong, we played aldershot last night not tamworth. we played the lambs on saturday.!
