Okay we deserved something from yesterday, but now we have a real chance to get the elusive away win against Southport.

Who do you play, and where (on the assumption all are fit)?

My team:

GK : Coburn
RB : Aspinall
CB: Band
CB : Munroe
LB : Payton
CM : Bushall
CM : Lawton
CM : Chalmers
LF : Little
RF : Senior
CF : O'Neill

We need to get at them from the start and be direct about it, get Senior running at people maybe Joe can notch another couple.

Thoughts?

I'd go with that side, except i'd probably start Rod on the right of the front three as i thought he changed the game yesterday with his direct running and crossing.Senior looked very impressive when he came on and must be worth a start on the left which leaves the other strikers fightin for the other starting place. Personally i'd start Little. Nothing against any of the other strikers but i think Colin just has that bit extra.

Hey Daycare we need to get Rod on from the start. Thompson after the hour if we are not in front.

We need this first win  :) :)

If you go for 4-3-3 as above then ok, just possibly Thornley instead of O'Neill - we need proven goalscorers. If we use this formation, then keep Payton at left back, but if Graham uses a 4-4-2, then is there a case for Payton on left mid, Senior right mid with Little & Rodders up front?

I'd be very tempted to play Senior for the precise reason you give - he's not frightened to shoot. However, do you put him in a front 3, in a front 2 with Rodders or Peyton on the wing, or on the wing himself. If he is on the wing I don't think he'll be frightened to cut in & have a shot or 2.

play warren left back. senior infront of him on the left wing withcolin n joe upfront. have rodders on the right wing. neither of them would be afraid to cut in and have a shot. they both livend te game up yesterday.

Is this not a 4-2-4 then? If so who would you play in the middle, Lawton and Chalmers? What if Bush is fit?

well. its not meant 2 be 4-2-4 but i spose in effect it is. yeah lewis n robbie. but maybe if bush is fit start wit joe on the bench an hav colin n senior up front. put rodders on the left an then play robbie (in his unpreferred position) on the right.  :-\

As important as the 11 strarting players and formation is we must play at a quick tempo, as in the the 2nd half.

We are far better when the sense of urgency is rife, as in being a goal behind.

Personally I would have a Scott at left and right back, Senior and Thornley out wide with Little and O'Neill up front, Lawton and Chalmers in the middle.
This does however leave Bushall out, and I can't see this happening

There is only one team it can be.

My team:

GK : Coburn
RB : Aspinall
CB: Band
CB : Munroe
LB : Peyton
CM : Bushall
CM : Lawton
CM : Chalmers
AM : O'Neill
RF : Little
LF : O'Neill

PLay Joe behind the two forwards.

The alternative team is

GK : Band
RB : Band
CB: Band
CB : Band
LB : Band
CM : Band
CM : Band
CM : Band
AM : Bandl
RF : Band
LF : O'Neill

Jenga, you have listed oneal twice. We know he is super but not that good!

I would leave out Bushell, bring in Thornley and Val.

Keep Peter, Pat and Chris in reserve

I like all the debate about team selection on the forum every week, but surely it should be the same 11, who finished on Saturday. What is so difficult about that? We murdered a decent side for over an hour and for the majority of that time we actually had a REAL right winger and a REAL left winger. Southport are truly awful at the moment, trust me I've seen them and they are so there for the taking... IF WE ARE BOLD. Senior looks very good indeed and Rod has looked his old self this season. OK, there is some debate about whether it should be Thommo or Jo with Col, but that should be GHs only headache. If we are going to go down, let's do it with a bit of a bang. For the record, I think we should be okay with what we've got, so long as we are a bit bolder. Again, fantastic performance by the lads on Saturday - I can feel a string of wins coming our way...
