Team Formation as a whole
« on: January 29, 2007, 01:33:24 PM »

I have hit upon something which I think will work well.

See what you think of this

We play a 4-4-2 formation but an attacking formation with the wingers bombing on,

GK - Coburn

RB - Aspinall
CB - Band
CB - Muroe
LB - Scott

RM - Lawton
CM - Bushell
CM - Own
LM - Senior

CF - Little
CF - O'Neill

Subs - Acton, Rose, Peyton, Thornley, Chalmers

Now this is a strong team with strong subs.

It would only work if Little and O'Neill had Senior and Lawton pushing up.

When/If Senior gets tired bring on Peyton or Thornley or Chalmers.

I like you would like to see Senior on the wing, I said this after seeing him for 15mins against Woking. Of course he may not be comfortable out there and maybe the reason he has come to us is to begin to be a striker again ?

He certainly has the pace and skill to beat a player and as soon as he came on he was creating space for himself, and others.

Not bad, but against southport i would like to see something like this:

GK. Coburn
LB. Peyton
RB. Rose
CB. Munroe
CB. Band

LW. Senior
RW. Thornley
CM. Chalmers
CM. Lawton

CF. Little
CF. O'Neill

Subs
McFadden, Owen, Aspinal, Tommo, Bushell

I would like to see the wingers swapping over, would really give the opposition's defence something to think about and would get some great balls into the box. Think defensively i would prefer Rose at right back whose better at defensive duties. Midfield wise, bush and val have done extreemly well, but think especially against southport, that lawton and chalmers would support the wingers and strickers better.

Well considering that Azza does about 75% of the passes at Altrincham I have to agree.

But don't you think that a lot of Aspinall's passes/long balls end up going straight to the other team?

No I don't think that many do considering how many he has to make.

You have to consider anything from the defence is usually passed out by him, sometimes its a hurried pass and sometimes he can put his foot on the ball. Any pass to midfield is usually good but when he has to go long its 50/50 as to what will happen due to it being a harder pass.

I think a lot of pressure is put on him as everyone in the defence seems to always pass to him to hit the ball out.

what i'd do is drop lewis :o :o

he needs a rest, bush is back next week lets give the lad a break.

rosie could do a job at right back and bush is good at collecting from the defence and distributing.

there we go sorted rosie in asa out lewis out and bush in.

Not sure why Asa should be dropped ? and even if he should would it not be better to bring Gary Scott in rather than play Rose out of position ??

Always think Scotty is a good attacking defender, does lots of over lapping runs and creates attacks.

Rosie is always made to look incapable when played out of position and he is only really a centre back in my eyes. It would not be fair on him to be played out of position as it would give people chance to heckle him again, when this season he has played very well.

Lewis situation I agree with. He has started to look a little more tired in recent weeks (and righly so). I know he is a talent but we don't want to burn him out then again recently the midfield has been picking itself with injuries \ suspensions.

Ps: I think I get bad karma every 1hr, which makes me believe its the same couple of people. So THANKS !

We all know gh has to strike a balance, whilst there are still alot of games to play, i think we should be more attack minded.

Asa has done nothing wrong, and agree with many posts that warren shold stay at lb and bring in Rod and possibly senior. Thomson for O'neeal if we need a change.

Saturday is as gooder opportunity we will have to secure three points.

Come on gh lets go at them  ;D ;D

We have no option but to attack for the rest of the season, Wins is what we need an not defeats or even draws.

We HAVE to beat Southport this week otherwise it is ............... (i wont say it).

Hence my suggestion on the opening post for a 442 attacking formation with creativity and O'Neill to hold the ball up to then lay it wide again and get crosseses in.

Provided Southport dont have a 9 foot keeper like Kiddy.
