Reasons to stay positive
« on: February 04, 2007, 04:29:07 PM »

Though yesterday was the hardest defeat to take in this season,I still think we will be ok.

1. Players, particular Colin Little, are low on confidence.Just one moment can change it all.

2. Yesterday was only our 2nd defeat to teams around us,which will ultimately decide our fate

3. This is Alty, you never expect it to be done the easy way

4. At the moment, anyone in the bottom half of the table could go down. All it takes is a couple of good results and your 13th.You have your generally poor sides (Southport,Tamworth) and sides who are on a big slide (Stafford,Grays)

5.There are still 16 games to go,and comparing our run in to over teams, its not as bad as I feared at the start of the season.

Get behind them until April 28th,they need our support

The main problem I have with our run-in is that 9 of the remaining 17 fixtures are away games....!

Do we fit into the category of "generally poor sides" or "sides who are on a big slide"?

Both, I think.

Out of those away games Altrincham have to play Crawley , Vics, St Albans and Tamworth so even though we are in the bottom four I still think its in our own hands.

Whilst playing teams in the bottom half of the table ( http://www.confguide.com/cgi-bin/versustopbot.mpl?season=2006&which=bottom&n=12 ) we have a very good home record  BUT drawing 5 and losing 4 away, which is worrying as has been said a million times before.

Of course this does mean we have to pick up points at unlikely places like other teams have been around us or else those performances will mean nothing.

The problem yesterday was we did not convert good chances, and we did not shoot when the opportunity arose.

If we can sort out the scoring problem then we have a chance.

We were not played off the park yesterday?

Also robbie sounds as if he should'nt have played due to illness! Were there others?

GH needs to motivate and pick a team that's balanced and will try too score. Put in some creative players that are on the bench.
