This news has upset me. Mark Maddox is a total legend and hero of mine.

He has always stayed in touch with Altys progress and has always offered to help with anything to do with the fans.

One of the nicest people I have ever met, a gentleman and all round ace person.

I was not going to come back for an friendlies and save my money to try and get to more league games this season but will be doing my utmost to get back for the Tranmere game.

All my very best wishes to Mark and his family.

This is just horrible news about one of all of our favourite players of all time who joked about getting legend status but earned it over his 300+ appearances for alty.

July 23rd is in my diary. I wish Mad Dog and his family all the best in staving off the effects of this horrible disease.

Can I suggest someone puts the tranmere match as an event on facebook when plans are finalised and it's confirmed?....I'd do it myself but it's not really my place and I'm sure someone else could do a better job...I know I have several friends on fb who aren't even alty fans but I could presuade to attend...

Wretched and cruel news, indeed.

Best wishes to Mark and his family.

If ever there was an Alty player who deserves our support at this difficult time, it's Mark Maddox.
