This reminds me a bit of the season we had Brian Kilcline and Nigel Gleghorn. The start of the season was appalling. Can anyone remind me how that one ended up?

Ian,

Forgive me for repeating an earlier post:

After the opening six matches of the 1998/99 Unibond League Premier Division season, we had gleaned four points.

Both of our coaches, Nigel Gleghorn and Brian Kilcline, then resigned.

Such comparisons are ultimately irrelevant though, aren't they?

We had better players and a bigger squad back then; could bring in the likes of Mark Ward and, I suspect, were probably even operating on a much larger budget than we are at present.

What puzzles me is why sinnott has not put a good defence together that's his area of expertise ffs. I hope I eat my words but in Lee I do not trust.

Yes, and the legacy of that budget was with us for years., but we only had some of those better players after an early season shake up.

We never had the lead at Harrogate. Two down at half time, pulled it back to two all then conceded a late penalty.

You get home from work and see that we drew  and think that's ok. Then you see the nature of the draw and end up with a feeling of great disappointment.

However, I should think (AND HOPE) the level of disappointment on the team bus home would be greater

(That was not an easy message to type, not that it was difficult to put together, but Heathcote was between me and the keyboard!).
