Mick, is your mother likely to bump into Doug Newton's son again?

I recall reading a year or two back that Doug Newton was not well at all with some form of disease. Barry? Flynny?

Ballers (& Mick),

I've managed to unearth this programme article about Doug Newton, which I wrote for a Nationwide Conference fixture against Burton Albion at Moss Lane on Saturday, 25th March 2006:

Logged
"It was just two world class players going for a 50/50 ball."

John King's description of a crunching tackle on Ossie Ardiles in the FA Cup Third Round tie at White Hart Lane: 10th January 1979.

My mother spoke to Doug's son this morning. He did say his father has been quite ill and has had to retire from work early. He did not elaborate but did go on to say he is now enjoying himself playing golf regularly. He also said that when he was ill, the first person to contact him to see how he was doing was Neil Warnock
