Just back home now.
A good win on a heavy looking pitch that had a few divots in it which may explain our desire in the first half to keep the ball airborne! BPAs game was all about getting in quick and denying us time. It worked well in the first half when we resorted too often to long balls. Our defence in the first half was poor, once or twice verging on the shambolic, and we let them have too much possession down their right flank. I felt we were a bit fortunate to be going in 2-2.
Lee earned his money at half time. Much improved, we had more possession, held the ball, passed it far more then in the first period and we fully deserved the third and fourth goals. As with others I felt the subs were wrong, Max P. was on the bench, ideal chance for him to have a few minutes, bringing on Perry and Junior didn't achieve anything. BPA were tired, the pitch and their tactics were too much for their players - we could have taken advantage of that by giving young Max a run.
The ref was mediocre, at times weak. He tried to make allowances for the pitch I think but there was some decisions he just got wrong.
Man of the Match was the bloke on the PA who didn't know who'd been subbed when their 12 came on. Forgot his exact words but it was class. He wisely gave up trying for the next substitution.
