Have you ever stopped doing something?

I was an almost decent Sunday League keeper about a hundred years ago. I stopped playing in goal about ten minutes from the end of a game when I didn't come to claim a cross just like one I'd claimed a thousand times before..BECAUSE I thought it was going to hurt.

I then played (far less successfully) outfield. I stopped doing that after breaking my nose for the seventh time but the third consecutive game. Again I was worried about getting hurt.

I know that the levels etc are much different but I can fully understand and sympathise with Danny

I think what has probably worked against us a bit is that Danny has something else pretty cool and that he loves to do on a Saturday with his media stuff.  He is appearing on more and more shows now.

If it was a choice of playing for Alty or moping about the house then his motivation for the game may have lasted a bit longer.  Just a thought.

I also reckon that maybe his motivation for playing was going a bit at Chester and he thought that playing for Alty would keep it going to at least the end of the season.  It didn't but he at least tried it out.

It could have been spectacular, it wasn't and we move on now for me.  Better we find out now than after 5-6 poor games, because make no mistake, he was very poor at Gainsborough regardless of the position he played in. The simple stuff was way off... and I know he was in good company.

for those who still don't understand can I offer another believable alternative?

how would any of you feel? alty fans through and through....would love to play for your beloved home club at the end of a glittering career.....you arrive in a blaze of trumpets the world expected of you.....and then thanks to some bizarre team selection it kinda just doesn't work out, fans start saying luca is being played out of position and he is our best central defender.......you make a bit of a rickets for the team you loved as a boy.....

.....I suspect had we won both games 3-0 and danny had clearly been instrumental in a rock solid defence he would still be with us.....

....I suspect there is an element of sheepishness here.....but for me the man is courageous and has done the right thing by the club in putting his hand in the air......

Retiring after 2 games dosent add up

Sinnotts tactics of three at the back didn't add up

Danny still wanting to play for Gibraltor dosent add up

Draw a line through the three and you will read between the lines

To go back to my earlier post I don't believe that he did pay to play but it did strike me as a decent possibility. Decent player, wants to fulfill a dream before his career ends, comes to an arrangement with the board, Bingo.

Like I said, it crossed my mind but I don't have any evidence whatsoever.

It doesn't really matter. We were planning to get promotion without him at Christmas so nothing has changed.
