In the event that anyone is interested in registering their thoughts / opinions, I've just received teh message below from Marketing Manchester. I don't know if it applies to Manchester itself or the Greater Manchester area....

You may be aware that Manchester is in the process of bidding to become Sport England’s first ever City of football, bidding to receive an investment of £1.6m to put into the game at grassroots. Having been shortlisted to the final three cities (competing against Portsmouth and Nottingham) we are now looking for YOU to tell us how we can improve football in Manchester and increase grassroots participation. This can be through any means and not necessarily affiliated and sanctioned football.
