I'll bet they really DO have long grass there! (or parsnips)

Myself, Daisy, Mr Flynn Junior, De Gea, Toppers and Mr Ainsworth Junior went to that very same fixture at Hebburn Town the week before Christmas a couple of years ago when our game against Blyth Spartans got called off. A nice little ground, some very tasty challenges and a very knowledgable lady supporter from West Allotment Celtic gave us a great day out for about 12 quid entry between us. It was the only game in the area that was on as Spennymoor, Gateshead and Bishop Auckland had all fallen foul of the weather.

I think I'm right in saying that they've had a team up there since the time of King Edward

Both teams feature in Harry Johnson's excellent book "The FarCorner". I can't recommend it too highly.

Anyone in need of a footie fix tomorrow can get down to Winsford when the fan owned 1874 Northwich FC (nothing whatsoever to do with JR's Flixton) take on Maine Road in the FA Cup.  Early KO 1.30 pm.

It would be rude not to ;-)

West allotment is a small town in the whitley bay area, and play their home matches in newcastle, on a pitch which is part of the newcastle united training ground, so ironically probably have the best surface in our league. We had a couple of alty fans at our game v crook town yesterday, hadnt met them before, peter and allison were their names i think, silly amounts of alcohol has clouded my memory
