Tranmere - MATCH THREAD
« on: August 25, 2015, 08:10:20 AM »

Looks like we are going to be very thin on the ground, the loss of so many players at one time is very unfortunate. Hopefully griff and Stuart only went off as a precaution. Have we any update on any of the injuries?

Richie has said that catering will be available on all four sides of the ground on Saturday, and also their will be a cake sale and bucket collection for the two players who both broke a leg in action last Tuesday. Donation buckets will also be with programme sellers.

Tranmere indicate they've sold around 1,200 tickets so far if social media is to be believed, let's hope we have a decent home turn out.

Not sure what 11 we will play if everyone is still injured, probably clee left back with crowther in front of him.

So wanted to go to this one but we're on holiday in the USA so will miss this, Southport and Cheltenham :(.

Let's hope Copburn and Griffin are ok to play as I'm hoping we'll come out of the match with a very good result.

There was mixed injury news among Alty's outfield players. Nicky Clee is being assessed by medical staff after a groin problem sustained at Witton in pre-season flared up again at Dover, but left-back Adam Griffin is hopeful of being passed fit for Saturday. Griffin jarred his back at Dover, but the injury has shown signs of settling down over the past 24 hours.

If griffin and clee don't pass fitness tests who will we put at left back or will we have to employ three centre backs including one makeshift one?

Back three of Leather Parry and Moult with Densmore right midfield and possibly O'Keele on the left ?

And if we can't justify fitting Griffith in somewhere it should be bye-bye time.

I agree re: Griffith - we can't possibly afford passengers, especially given how thin the squad is already.

If we're sticking with 4-5-1, and assuming Griff is OK but Nicky isn't, surely the best policy would be to bring O'Keefe into a 3-man centre midfield alongside Richman and Moult, with Crowther coming back in from the cold and pushing up in the wide areas with Bowerman, with Damian up front?

If Crowther is that much out of favour, sod it - he can play his son again.  He's clearly going to anyway.

Crowther should be playing left wing it's his chance to make the position his own, and Saturday might just be his sort of game

Completely agree. With ongoing doubts about Nicky's 46-game fitness, he should really be staking his claim by now.

If O'Keefe gets properly up to speed as well, I'd actually quite like the look of that team.  It's just a shame one of Reevesy/Rankine would have to miss out.
