At tonights match Altrincham Football Club's Community Sports Trust will be taking part in a presentation ceremony, where we will be photographed with a cheque for £69,500, which reflects the funding that the Community Co have received from the Football Conference Trust (FCT) over the past 4 years – please note that this is not an amount that we have just received.
The ceremony is to publicise the support that the FCT provide to clubs in the National League. For us this support has been the main source of funding for activities such as School curriculum coaching, Ladies football, Fun weeks, Youth Group coaching, and latterly new activities that have been run in the Community Sports Hall.
These activities have contributed to increasing participation in football and improving the fitness and health of members of the local community. They have also helped to raise the profile of the club within the local community, and increase in supporter levels.
The Football Conference Trust is a charity that offers grant aid to National League clubs to support and develop their community projects. Funding is made possible by the generous support of the Premier League and the Professional Footballers Association. Each has contributed to a fund of £5.2m. Over 59 National League clubs are currently running projects after receiving funding from the Trust.
We would like to thank Brian Lee and the Football Conference Trust, The Premier League and The PFA for their continued support.
We will be including more information re this presentation, and on our Community activities in one of our forthcoming programmes, however if you are interested in finding out more about the Community Co, please contact the club on 0161 928 1045.
